OL Juan Minaya commits to Miami

Malcontents just don’t get that they’re getting the best possible information for ******* FREE.

As a sentient human with room temperature IQ you should be able to conjure up a filter that lets you understand the circumstances and context of that information, so that you can understand why sometimes some of the “hype” doesn’t turn into reality during the regular season.

Work on your practical cognition skills rather than *****ing like pre-pubescent girls about the info you get.

There’s nothing wrong with discussing players that didn’t meet expectations, whether hyped or not, but find me somewhere else where you’re going to get the volume and quality of information that @DMoney gives us.

OK, ladies, back to your regularly scheduled program.

The Greentree All-American thing is mostly a myth.

People always get mad when the season goes sideways, but the good players usually play best in practice.

The three Greentree All-Americans in last year’s class were OJ Frederique, Elija Lofton and Jordan Lyle. They were also our best freshmen during the season.

In terms of the older guys, I talked a lot about Ward, Restrepo, Horton, Arroyo and Martinez and very little about the DBs (aside from Frederique). We saw how that played out.

Sometimes guys like Jaden Harris look good in limited contact and then freeze when you have to tackle in open space to the ground. But for the vast majority, the practices tell you who the players are.

This isn’t revisionist history. Those who listen to the daily podcast know this to be true.

Anyway, it’s still early. We will know more after spring ball.

some just want to post and think the Greentree All-American thing is witty.

credit to you for keeping people engaged.

real ones know what it is.

Lofton will be a big part of the offense in 2025. That entire class will largely determine how many wins we have. On offense we will need Lofton, Lyle, Trader, Carr all to produce at a high level. On defense we need 2-3 of the sophs to be studs and we need OJ, Lucas et all. That class will be the difference between 8-9 wins and the CFP. Frankly not a great spot when you need to rely so heavily on 2nd year kids.

It exists because fans get mad when the team does bad after a hopeful August.

On an individual basis, the players who play best in practice are usually the good players who end up in the NFL. Look at the most hyped players from last year's practices. Those are the guys who played well in games.

There are certainly guys who fit the Greentree All-American category- Darnell Jenkins, Lance Leggett as a freshman, Jaden Harris to an extent this year- but the guys who consistently perform on Greentree are usually the guys who perform on the field.

Emory Williams is the picture when you look up GreenTree All American in the dictionary

I believe most of the reports Dmoney ever puts out their usually pretty spot on… except QBs. He’s always pumping sunshine and I was still skeptical of Cam till after that Florida game when he proved he was the real motha ******* deal.

Lofton played a bunch of snaps on the #1 offense. He was one of our top 3 freshman during the season, just like he was on Greentree.

Listen, I'm wrong a ton in August. The pros miss all the time, and I'm not a pro. These are kids, and it's a projection.

I'm also an optimistic person, so when I'm talking about an entire roster you're going to hear positive stuff. Those are also the comments and observations I relay from coaches, for obvious reasons. They aren't going to trash a kid in the media.

But when I hear "Greentree All-American," I think of a kid who consistently gets hyped on Greentree and then sucks in games. And that type of player is mostly a myth. The consistent practice stars are the guys who play well in games, like Restrepo.

DJ Ivey qualified as a Greentree All-American couple years ago. But even in that example, the talent eventually showed up.
In the case of D.j. , I am convinced it was a coaching issue.
