Oklahoma State stuff

This IMO doesn't bode well for us. This seems like a much larger scale but somewhat similar. I would think they will set the tone for this type of behavior with us then it will be easier for them to levy penalties on OK State.

We will see. Just doesn't make me feel any better about our situation.

It has nothing to do with us. Nothing. Investigation is over. We've gone before the COI and had our day in court. Their "decision"will be/has been made with OSU's situation having zero bearing.

If anything, I think this helps our case. Our case is starting to look like a McDs happy meal deal.

Happens everywhere. I dont think much will happen at OSU unless they can tag some current coaches or players. All the names mentioned are long gone and unless they find another Maria Elena Perez to schill for them on depositions, nobody is going to talk to the NCAA.

Sound and fury signifying nothing.

If I were the NCAA, I would have an in immediate sit down with Lester while he is still at LSU.

The entire article from SI is pretty interesting, as much as I hate that publication. This was only the first one, and it was about money. there is two more, with one of them detailing *** with hostesses. Bart Scott voice.........CANT WAIT

Definitely interesting and it will be interesting to see how the NCCA handle or MIShandles this case... I would have much rather this be about Alabama, LSU or any of the other SEC powers... they will get caught eventually.

Gundy and Miles interviewing college girls to sleep with their recruits is far worse than anything in the Shapiro report......

I'm going to assume two things - 1. The NCAA is full of bumbling idiots and 2. They are most worried about their credibility at this time.

So, with that in mind, I don't see how this doesn't affect us at least in causing further delay to our punishment. These allegations are explosive. They have it all, ***, drugs, money, cheating, pay for play(!). I'm willing to believe that if our sanctions have not been written in stone yet they at least get reviewed in light of this latest bombshell.

Not that the NCAA has been consistent in the past or anything but - their credibility has never been on the line the way it is now, either.

Where is the outcry and call for the death penalty? Lack of institutional control? If this was us we would have already been hearing it. More than likely they will get this little "oversight" taken care of by the weekend. :-)

At least eight former Oklahoma State football players say they received cash payments from people associated with the Cowboys program starting in the Les Miles era and identified another 29 players as having also taken money, Sports Illustrated revealed Tuesday in the first of a five-part investigative series on the football program.

Some players received $2,000 annually and others around $10,000, multiple players told SI, with a few stars allegedly received $25,000 or more.

Among the players SI identified as having taken money, included former quarterback Josh Fields, running back Tatum Bell and cornerback Darrent Williams, who was shot to death in 2007 while a member of the Denver Broncos. Fields, Bell and others denied getting illicit payments, but multiple players were on the record as saying they received money and saw other players getting payments.

SI also claimed that former quarterback Bobby Reid was given money. During a notable September 2007 press conference, Gundy staunchly defended Reid after an Oklahoman columnist questioned Reid's maturity. But four former Cowboys told SI that after Reid lost his starting job, he stopped receiving bonus money. Reid too denied receiving money while a player.

Subsequent chapters of the investigative piece allege that there was also widespread academic misconduct involving the football program, that the program tolerated recreational drug use and that members of a hostess program had *** with recruits.

The first part of the series concentrated on financial irregularities in the football program. SI reported that payments to players, which stretched from 2001 to at least '11 under head coaches Miles and Mike Gundy, were primarily delivered three ways: a de facto bonus system based on performances on the field; direct payments to players from boosters and coaches independent of performance; and no-show and sham jobs -- including work related to the renovation of Boone Pickens Stadium -- that involved at least one assistant coach and several boosters.

Several players claimed that former Oklahoma State special teams and secondary coach Joe DeForest played an integral role in the bonus payment system and would determine how much players would get.

"It was just like in life when you work," said Thomas Wright, a defensive back from 2002-04. "The better the job you do, the more money you make."

Defensive back Calvin Mickens said he received $200 after forcing a fumble and breaking up a pass in his very first game.

"I was like, Wow, this is the life!" Mickens said, according to Sports Illustrated. "I'm 18, playing football, and I just got $200."

DeForest, now the associate head coach and special teams coordinator at West Virginia, said he never paid a player for on-field performance.

T. Boone Pickens, the school's most prominent booster, was not implicated in any improprieties by SI's sources.

The SI report claims that the timing of the violations coincided with Miles' arrival at Oklahoma State in 2000. The Cowboys had gone 3-8 the year before Miles became coach, but afterward the football budget was increased. Assistants were paid more, players ate better, facilities were upgraded, but, according to players SI interviewed, the culture change around the football program also included NCAA violations.

They just pick around the Outside of SEC country. Us, Ohio State, USC Way out west, OK State. It's a joke. Cam Newton investigation lasted 15 minutes, during the ******* season they won a title.

As are these allegations:

• Widespread academic misconduct, which included tutors and other Oklahoma State personnel completing coursework for players, and professors giving passing grades for little or no work, all in the interest of keeping players eligible.

• Tolerating and at times enabling recreational drug use, primarily through a specious counseling program that allowed some players to continue to use drugs while avoiding penalties. The school's drug policy was selectively enforced, with some starters going unpunished despite repeated positive tests.

Miami has the bigger name. The strange part about this is that many people say that Miami is irrelevant in college football today, but you mention Miami's name in a newspaper, blog, or timeline, people are going to read what the Canes are doing... Granted most of this is out of hate, jealousy or envy, but it is what it is. It's a love-hate thing going on. Lol.

Impossible to ignore or sweep under the rug. OSU is getting hammered. Miles will get hammered. Gundy will get hammered. This is assuming the players on record with SI agree to give statements to the NCAA.

Hey, JJ coached there before he came here. Now we know why we have not heard our decision. NCAA will tie it all back to him and hang it on THE U. Other than that, nothing happens because it is Miles. Sure he is crook but he is SEC and HC at Mark Emmert's old school so nothing will happen. Maybe if Miles goes to NFL, he might get a show cause for a year.

That was the funniest part of Oregon's punishment. Chip Kelly directly involved, and gets a 18 month show cause penalty to go along with is 4 year NFL contract. After last night Kelly will get atleast 2 seasons in with the Eagles. Yep, that show cause really sent a message.

Im not rushing to any judgments on them or conclusions like people did with our case...

Although will be interesting because one of the SEC boys ( Miles) is named in it...
