Lets get back to reality.

Look, Im as ****ed as anyone else today. I am throughly disgusted with Donoforio and the defense.

But I actually expected us to f*ck up one of these last 3 games. I said at the very beginning I expected a 6-6 season. I said I would be pleased with 7-5, and DELIGHTED with 8-4.

On offense, I think we did what we needed to win. Anyone blaming Fisch for the last drive, come on. Look, if he throws it and stops the clock, we would have been here b*ching about how we gave them too much time and didnt work the clock enough. We complain every week that Fisch doesnt run the ball and chew up the clock to help the D, well that is EXACTLY what he tried to do.

This was on the Defense. PERIOD. IF you let a 3-6 team march 90 F*CKING yards down the field on you, TWICE, converting TWO 4th and 7th plays, you DESERVE to lose. Our defense was ONCE AGAIN garbage today.

NOW... I WILL cut the staff a BIT of slack. We were playing without 3 of our best players. There is a REASON that Eddie Johnson and Deon Bush are STARTING AS TRUE FROSH. Because they guys behind them are GARBAGE. Without DP, and our entire defensive backfield was lacking ANY playmakers today.

As for Donoforio, the guy is totally out of his league at this level. I have ZERO faith in the guy. He rushed exactly TWO, COUNT EM TWO guys on that last play, and actually dropped Curtis Porter into coverage on that final play. He rushed TWO F*CKING GUYS, giving that QB ALL F*CKING DAY to throw that ball, and to top it off, our GARBAGE secondary, let the SAME F*CKING GUY, get behind them in the endzone TWICE IN A ROW.

The ENTIRE defensive staff should be fired on this team.

That said, we arent far off where most of us expected to be. And look, losing those 3 starters, on a team that has NO depth, and is already full of young players all across the defense.

This team is going to be much better. I really feel we are on the cusp of greatness. I still think Golden was the best guy for he job, and the best we can hope to have in this situation. He is rebuilding the program from the ground up, and while this SUCKS right now, I REALLY do feel like we are going to see the fruits of all this pain PAY OFF starting next year. If it doesnt, you can bet I will be leading the charge to run him out on a rail.

But guys, its time to get real here. Were not about to fire our 3rd coach in 7 years. All we can do is hope that Golden's bottom up approach is going to pay dividends, and that he will upgrade the staff as he needs to. He will improve as a gameday coach, just like "Botch" Davis did. Will he be the next Jimmy Johnson? We dont know. But I do believe he is going to make us a contender again. All we can do is hope for the best, but look, this program is facing sanctions, has fired 2 coaches in the last 6 years, cannot pay what the giant state big football schools can, and we havent really been a top level program in almost a decade. We arent going to be getting a high caliber coach, so we are going to have to ride with Golden, and hope for the best.

Lets just all calm down, and hope for the best. We have to stop acting like this team is ready, and these kids are really at a level where they can execute consistently. YES the defense is a trainwreck, but it could have been better today had we had 3 key starters playing. Look, if the ACC was even mediocre this year, we would be in NO position to compete for jack sh8t, and most of us didnt expect to anyway.

Were not going to fire Golden. So ranting and raving about it, is not going to accomplish anything. If nothing else, we need to be practical at this point, and hope we can get another good recruiting class in and that we dont get hammered by the NCAA. Its time we got real, modify our expectations, and hope for the best.

***** breaking the furniture if coach no D is not fired will burn down the house (if he was a real friend of Golden he would resign)

Listen, Golden is from a Defensive background! He needs to help Coach D out. I know that it is Coach D's job but Golden is the head coach so he needs to step in more than he does (especially this year)! Coach D might be out of his league up here! But Golden coached in then ACC so he knows how things are up here. Step up and be a team on the staff side !!!!!

When is the last time we lost to a team as bad as Virginia is this year? I can't recall us losing to a 3 win team like this, even in the Shannon and Coker eras. This is what is concerning.

Last year, BC and Maryland?

Outstanding Post Cane4Life. Great points all the way around.

So only under Golden, basically? Maryland is excused, and BC is partially excused, IMO, due to circumstances surrounding our team, but it should be noted that we seem to lose to lesser (as in, losing record lesser) opponents more often under Golden than we did under Shannon.

Gene Chizik is out of a job in two weeks. He was a very good DC. Golden needs to fire Onofrio and hire Gene.

Lost to a 4 win UVA team in Shannon's last year.

I think what a lot of people need to understand is that Miami doesnt have very many "lesser" teams. Maybe Bethune and USF this year. We just arent that good this year. Period.

This.

There's a reason people picked us to go 4-8. There's a reason Phil Steele picked us to finish 5th in the Coastal.

We ain't that good.

Before the season I thought we could go 8-4, but would've been happy with 7.

We're still on schedule.

On schedule for what? A return to being the program real championship caliber schools want to schedule in order to give their kids a weekend in Miami?

Losing to a Virginia team this bad, in such embarrassing fashion, should not be a part of anybody's schedule. You lose to top 5 Note Dame, top 5 KSU, top 10 FSU, and even a mediocre UNC? Fine, we're still on schedule. A loss to a mediocre program like UVA in a serious down year tells us that we aren't on schedule, that there is no schedule, and that there will never be a schedule. We are ****ed.

On schedule for finishing how we expected to finish.

I'll never understand this mindset. The pre-season prediction isn't set in gold. WE had this game today.

A win today would have set a good stage for the end of the season and possible put us on a winning streak to close out the year.

I don't know what team will come out next weekend. These loses take a toll on a team.

OP mAde a good post. I will pull up the thread from before the season where everyone guessed the record. I had 6-6 or 5-7 I believe. If I recall, I said I didn't think we could stop anyone and I didn't believe in Morris.

Point is, anyone that is realistic knew this was a rebuilding year. Golden is playing freshman. That's huge in recruiting. We hung tough today, against FSU, and if PD doesn't drop those balls maybe we hang against ND..

This team already exceeded my expectations. That's all I need to say or know about AG. Coordinators? Gonna give them another year cause the cupboard is empty. Not happy, but gonna be real- 6 or 7 of our best players declared. Didn't fare well in the draft. If we had them, we'd have at least another win or two. We sent them packing cause we are rebuilding. Cats need to realize that.

It's easy to point the finger. It's frustrating to watch at times. Button opinion, for what it's worth, is that this team overachieved this year. And if the team as a whole overachieved, I will give a pass to the coordinators. It's only a one year pass, but they get a year. And we are self imposing anyways, no matter what some of you dimwits think.

Should have won today, no question. But in the long run it doesn't matter. I definitely question him more now than I did a year ago today, but I think AG is the guy. And for me to say that....... I'm a pessimistic ****head that has high expectations. Take that for what it's worth. We have the right guy.

What teams comes out - a ****** or ****ier team. We just are bad. We haven't turned any corner. We are on track to fade and disappoint as we always do. No more living in the past people. We are so far removed from the championship teams. Our past is the last ten years. We are who we are and played like it.

Ok let me get this straight SO WE ARE BOUND TO OUR PRE SEASON OUT look to determinie our relative success? We are a much more talented team then we thought we were at the beginning of the year.. Morris , Duke, Bush, Johnson even Dorsett to a point have all exceeded expectations. Our Oline hasnt let our QB ghet touched dam near all season. If you think tthat we should be 5-5 right now you are a complete phuking joke and have your head in the sand. EVen I put 150 for us to go under 6.5 wins for the season and i knew by the 3rd game that was a bad bet. Luckily golden im sure will bring home the money for me. The coaching yesterday was a cluster**** .you can paint it how you want to paint it but yesterdays loss reeks of corching..COker, SHannon it all came back to reality. We lost to the worst team in the ACC that is saying a lot. I totally agree with miami 82 here. Take off your phucking blinders man. This is just like the shannon lost against Virginia, that **** opened my eyes man. And to the phaggots saying our best 3 players were out is a dam excuse. Virgina was the lowest scoring team in the ACC.. You guys are a joke im going to the gym

As bill parcels said, you are what your record is. Yes duke and bush have played well. That means preseason expectations are out the window? Are you serious bud?

UVA beat us 48-0 three years ago. This team folded down the stretch for the past 7,8,9 years. We just hung tough with our 3 best defenders out, who also happen to be freshman.

You gotta be kiddin me.

I posted this in another thread, but it applies here as well:

I agree with this.

This is full out meltdown mode.

Yes we lost to freaking Virginia.

Yes there have been opportunities that we should have capitalized on.

Yes, D'Onofrio makes ****** calls, Fisch tries to play video games, and Golden is conservative.

But we are getting better. There is direction and a plan for the program. There appears to be accountability and real discipline. Recruiting finally makes sense, we are getting impact players at positions of need. The relationships with HS coaches, the camps, the physicality, the strength and conditioning. I could go on and on with the improvements.

We were ne'er going to be good this year. Did we have opportunities, yes. But we all knew we were going to struggle. Everyone was saying that if we improved over last year, it would be a success. Guess what, we have a chance to do that. Our senior leaders are a 5th year LB who has been injured for three years. A senior RB who is outshines by a freshman, A senior safety who doesn't even start. A CB who finally started living up to his potential, and a junior QB that has started what 13 games?

Now with all that crap, we STILL have a chance at winning our side of the conference, beating FSU/ Clemson, winning our conference and going to freaking orange bowl! If we choose to of course.

Mind you this is all with a ginormous NCAA investigation hanging over the program where nobody currently in the program has anything to do with!

Get the **** out of here with all this complaining bull****. Get on the train and enjoy the ride. It is happening. We are coming back.
