I was clearly wrong but I just wanted to support the new coach and thought he’d bring the defense’s mentality to the offense. I think a number of us felt that way. After UNC, I knew we were dead. A good number of people jumped off the ship after 4 games. Much better than years past.

Facts

UNC was the day to wake up....u had to be a fool if u believed after that game man. We are seasoned we see frauds pretty quickly now and I'm even ok if anyone stood on ship. After FIU if your still on the pom pom team then there isn't any hope for that fan. I see the same slurpers rva and we both know who they are.....we all know who the slurpers around here.

After that if game it just cemented he was trash my boy laughed the whole game. I was like man I can't explain this university man

After UNC I told OGH that we were dead and that he was right. UNC had a new staff vs us having half of our staff returning, they had a much worse record than us the year before and they had much less talent. There was no way around the elephant in the room if someone’s being objective.
 
I'm glad I stayed clear of this thread a year ago. Otherwise I would have a lot of esplainin to do :)

I was willing to go past Florida because it was an early game and we should have beat them and they were ranked. I thought that might not be enough for a read but we got worse. Lol. And Mac Brown and Stacey Searles best us

They had a **** season and are recruiting well.....but only Miami has to have a good record to have a elite class. That rule only applies to us that's it. I hate posters that use these Miami rules that we have to meet but every other team proves the theories wrong yearly.

All we need is a Savage coach that recruits and acts like sfla in our turf not everyone else's. Until we find that man we will be trash.....Butch would of cleaned up man and we blew it. The admin wanted to prove the fans wrong and they got fuqed....I hope it cost James his job that bytch.

I just want a competent coach man. Someone who can win the games we’re supposed to, the way we’re supposed to with the guys we have.

That was the day I knew 100%. I still kept trying to talk maybes, couldas, shouldas and wouldas... because I mean I'm a fan and you hold out hope, but I never liked the hire and that day confirmed it.

With no HC games on tape, what choice do you have as a fan? This is by far the fastest I've seen a fan base turn on a coach though... completely idiotic of Blake James.

I liked the idea of this move to keep our program afloat when it seemed Richt would never leave. HCIW hey kids look we got a non-corpse here soon to take over disregard the senile old man. That type of thing.

But once Richt proved he's a saint and just walked away, he gave us an entirely fresh start at finding a new coach. Once that happened I immediately hated the Manny hire. It was lazy. @DMoney can confirm this, as I stormed out of his own version of the Lion Order chat in pure disgust at our lack of a search and our lazy hire.
 
It’s called being a fan;

I defended Golden once upon a time, using The Butch theory as an alibi to give him a chance;

I justified the Richt hire, using JJ as an example, even went back & forth w a good friend @The Franchise over it.

Manny; I wasn’t a fan of, but our def did improve under his watch & he said the right things. So when OP, who’s been critical of past regimes, gave a thumbs up, y not get pumped about the new guy?

Bumping threads like this just shows we’re not mopes. It shows we’re all fans that want the best and hope for the best. But when a coach shows his ***, we show ours.

Nah man I mean I wanted to be wrong, There’s nothing wrong with supporting our program with a new staff. But we’ve seen enough the past 15 years where we can spot a bad staff and like you said after unc the writing was on the wall and only went down hill from there.

but people still want to make manny and dabo comparisons.

I don’t know how they do that comparison with our losses - 3 times as double digit favorites.

When Manny was hired I knew staffing would be a problem. I never expected it to be this bad. This season has to be worse than even the doubters thought.
 
I'll be honest, I don't think there was any reason not to be cautiously optimistic about Manny. If anyone's pride is hurt by having been let down, then feel free to rage on about how you always knew. For me, I think if you were that convinced he was the wrong guy right off then you just want to be ****ed. There isn't ever going to be a coach we can all get behind before he proves himself, so what's the point of vomiting fire on a guy who hasn't had a chance.

That said, even I turned on Manny early. The way we lost and the teams we lost too...there's just no excusing that. Randy's teams would run out of gas late in the year and al/Richt were too stubborn to give up bad schemes. But none of them lost so many completely winnable games so quickly. Well, maybe Randy, but I blacked out for most of that season so I'm not sure.

Anyone who expected it to be this bad is just a miserable fcking person. Even if you predicted 6-6, nobody would have predicted the specific losses correctly. Nobody.

The way he was talking all offseason just to be 6-6 with being out coached every game lost everyone man. Same thing with this staffing like the past 3 staffs, loyalty to friends and family.
