Offense is great, defense is.... offensive (thoughts on Duke win)

Can’t believe Cam threw that cross body lob pick again after what happened in the Cal game.

But 400 yards passing with 5 TDs and a 22 point win sort of cancels that out a little bit.

That is what gunslingers do though.
Just gotta take the good with the bad. (And Cam is mostly very good/Great.)

There is gunslinger and there is boneheaded.

he has thrown an INT ever single time he has done that throwback alllllllll the way across the field.

Those aren’t controlled scrambles and slinging it, those are complete nonsense that there is no excuse for.

He has done that a few times now and each time it’s been an INt. He has to stop

Yes, he is a great QB.

But there is no excuse for that stuff.

Not every time.
But yes, most of the time it ends up bad.

This throws aren’t like 99% of his scrambles and plays. Those are just flat out awful and he has done it multiple times now

I think it worked against Florida a time.
There were a few other times but yes, it is risky and I prefer he does not do it.

With Martinez uncovered at the sticks. It was still a holding penalty but beats the pick
 
Guidry is having issues playing his role. The O is great, we need the D to just function, and he’s having a tough time with that. It sucks.

If he can’t play his role, I’d let JT call the defense. What I saw from him today was outrageous.
 
Is D’onofrio still available? Not sure what they showed on TV but when Duke went hurry up and reeled off the 21 points our defense was dazed and confused **** near every pre snap. If one team can figure out a way to hold our offense under 30 point’s we’re done.

Hopefully we can find a way to play porter outside and play more zone. Could allow Harris to maybe play some big nickel role for us. Get schemed up endlessly on the same few plays.
on offense we need to avoid the drive 3-6 shells we go into where we forget how to play
 
I kind of think we’re starting to feel like last year’s Washington team. Every week people thought they’d lose and they were playing close games and most of the time Penix just put them on his back and he took them to the final. Being in the playoff in and of itself is a massive success compared to preseason expectations and the last few seasons we’ve had.

I think the run schemes are all Maribal and Cristobal, not Dawson’s. Though I think he does call plays and Ward has a long leash.

Whether that is true or not, shouldn't Dawson have some input in the run schemes as the OC? Our basic running game is working good for now, but we haven't faced a stout defense yet. Yes, Ward definitely has a long leash as he should.
