OBB & Rudy Fernandez : Great Listen

It was written that the Mas brothers, the SPAC guy and Rudy were all in favor of hiring him but that the search firm did not give their recommendation for him.

Hiring the Utah state guy? I don’t remember that. Do you have a link? If we’re talking about the same guy, this is the same guy that interviewed, and then said he was taking himself out of consideration?

there was a ton of mis- and dis-information coming form all cracks, crevices and attics. i would not rely on what was reported by most reporters, media and social media people

This x 1000

I mean I just jumped in here because this guy is saying that the Mas brothers, Ruiz , and Rudy were all in favor of hiring this Utah state dude, and I don’t think that’s ever legitimately been reported either in the media or by sources like you, anywhere.

People just seem to make shlt up on here and then state it as fact. Unless I’m wrong, but I don’t believe he was ever going to be hired. We were aiming much higher. Not only that, I seriously doubt Ruiz was involved in any form in the A.D. selection process

Rudy alluded to this and dispelled a lot of the rumors and innuendo. His bottom line was he was going to do what was best for Miami regardless of all the noise.

So long as it's not Ferman reporting it I'm taking it to the bank!

If you listen to the entire podcast, no other names but Rad were mentioned. Rudy and Joe were in unison that Rad was the best AD in the country and they were swinging for the fences to get him.

I said Nov 23rd Rad was the top candidate , they wanted home run hires at AD and HC. That’s why I didn’t believe the Nunez garbage. I do believe there was interest with a MWC AD but I was told it was mostly power five guys late in the process as candidates.

I remember you mentioning that about other P5 candidates and specifically, the MWC AD. **** near everything you said was spot on.

I highly recommend everyone listen to this podcast. It’s great insight from Rudy, dispels a lot of the bull**** that was being said, and further cements your inside info as rock solid.

As much as we all love ST26 (and I don't mean that lightly. I still watch, and show kids I coach his highlights), I'm against retiring #s at UM. How do you retire Sean's number and not Jerome's... or Ray's (or are we just waiting for him to pass).

26 should be reserved for our defensive captain. No freshmen should ever be able to walk into our locker room and wear a number that special.

Rudy said on the OBB podcast that the only person offered the AD position was Drad, FWIW.

I agree with retiring numbers 1000%. All for ring of honor or other recognition, but retiring numbers is cliche AF. I also agree that certain numbers should be protected and earned by current players.

Onviously Nunez was like " I have no time for these games , go hire that clemson bum you like so much , I'm staying at New Mexico"
Nuñez sounds like he was the unofficial affirmative action/Rooney rule sacrificial lamb. They were never really interested in him, but included him by default because there aren't that many minority ADs out there.
