I'd remove Jaren Keawe from the list bc he shouldn't be in the transfer rankings. They should just count that as Cal's recruiting class.

Mateer. He’s got a much higher ceiling than Beck IMO. Beck has a higher floor. If we had a roster loaded with talent on both sides , it would make sense to take the more accomplished qb with the higher floor, even if he isn’t quite the playmaker that Mateer is. The roster still has a lot of holes and I think Mateers ability to make something out of nothing (like Cam Ward did ) would be more valuable right now.

He wasn’t the top portal qb by any rankings outside of Canes message boards. He was the #1 QB last year in hindsight, which is the only ranking that matters.

Hopefully Beck will be #1 portal QB now and after next season.

More than anything, allows us to build momentum with possible first round QBs in back to back years.

Mateer will have to be a miracle worker to come out of that OU offense looking good. He chose his bed. Let his a$$ lay in it.
