Non-Conference dates set

What kind of BS is that? Why shouldn't we have say in when our own games are scheduled?

Because the whole conference relies on TV money. When networks are paying your conference for the right to show your games, you let them determine the TV schedule. Business 101.

And, because of the ACC's awful television contract with ESPN, ACC games are served up as appetizer for ESPN's SEC fare, which is promised a certain amount of appearances on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU in prime-time, taking up those slots.

End result being, I hope you like noon and afternoon starts, because there will be a lot of them in the future. Think I read somewhere that over 3 quarters of ACC games were played at 3:30 or before in 2012.

Because they aren't going to waste a prime time slot on two teams fighting to stay above .500. If (when) we are a national player again, they will have no choice but to put us in the big night slot.

As we progress towards spring, the ACC will release everyone's conference schedule and some of those times may be set. It's from there that you'll start to see the school set times for the first couple games of the season. I do expect us to have at least 1 Thursday night game because we still have a national name that can be marketed to a Thursday night crowd. I also expect the UF game to be at night, as UF will likely be highly ranked and it will be a nice early season rivalry game for ESPN or ABC to highlight.

Really like how that schedule shakes out. Those first 5 games should prepare this team for an undefeated run in the ACC.

Mix in an early ACC game, split up VT, NC and FSU and things could set up nicely. Would be nice if they would set us up with an end of the year rivalry game. VT at the end would be nice and set up a winner to the ACCCG. With this squad no reason to fear them anymore.
