It’s a challenging model. They started out with poor talent and instantly upgraded through mass portal signings. In theory, each year you would rely less and less on the portal and more and more on an improved group of players that you recruited from high school.That's some serious delusion.
Never mind the "first F$U collective" getting them put on probation.
Never mind the "second F$U collective" choosing not to pay their own players, and losing them to the Portal.
Oh, sure, they had one year where they threw a few bucks at their own imported recruits so that they wouldn't enter the NFL draft a year early....
"Top 5 NIL program". Untrue.
"Is the best run in the country". Insanity.
Now in many positions, they have improved their high school recruiting (HB, WR, CB). But they couldn’t help themselves…they still went out and signed 4 star portal players at each position, several who have 1-3 years of eligibility remaining. Why should some of the high end high school recruits wait around?
