No more walk-ons and 105 limit roster(105 scholarship players

If the expectations are just re-classifying walkons as scholly players thats one thing. Great for kid but rough on programs to cover more schollys, especially for the FIU’s of the world. Does this affect how many womens schollys now have to be increased? Again, killer for the lower tier schools.

If this is more about actually filling ur roster with 20 more 3/4star athletes, then i think its just wayyyyy less practice reps for many players who will never get a shot to prove themselves and just clogging the transfer portal even more than it is.

What’s amazing to me is that these wealthy teams who have the extra NIL budget can really stack their rosters. May be tough to keep with the lack of PT but man you can legit add another 5-8 4 star talents compared to having a bunch of kids that’ll never ever play a single snap

Scholarship limits changed for every sport but don't know official breakdown

Except you can't. This is why they made the Miami rule. You need to be on scholarship in order to be part of the active game day roster. Additionally, they made it so you have to be on a football scholarship after Butch loophole'd the system by putting players on track scholarships.

I always wondered about those rules. What happens if you put a PWO in a game. Does that mean you need to instantly give them a full year scholarship? We played a number of walkons on STs and even in regular downs. Were all of them made scholarship athletes?

And is the rule retroactive. What if you bring a guy as a PWO paying NIL and he doesn't play his first or second year but plays his third. Can you just give him a scholarship then?

Just felt to me like the PWO system did allow for roster stuffing to those teams that knew how to manipulate the system. But I didn't really dig into the rules.

No, preferred walk-one or any walk on can play. What you can’t do is stash players with scholarships on other teams, like track. As soon as they play a game, they must be on a football scholarship. At least that was the rule until now.

If I recall correctly, Santana Moss signed a track scholarship. But he needed to play right away so he was transferred to a football scholarship.
