I don't worry too much about completion percentage in high school, unless it's alarmingly low. 54% isn't bad, with the TD-INT ratio what it was last year. Also, his average completion was 18.0 last year compared to 13.2 so far this year. So if throwing shorter passes makes the % go up, it's not really much of a positive. Doesn't matter, kid is a player and I'm glad we're getting him.

Anyone know if he was able to pack on any more good weight? That's probably my main concern with him atm

I disagree on accuracy. It's the number 1 thing I like to see in a QB as long as he has adequate measurables. Perry is plenty accurate. I understand what you're saying about the length of the throws though. Obviously, the farther you're pushing the ball down the field the less accurate you'll be overall.

I'm living in Ocala for the time being and the one highlight is that I get to watch this kid play. Fast, smart and athletic. His family comes to games in canes gear, it's a great sight.

What you don't like those big grit eat'n Marion County country gals 8-). Come on now ain't loven like big girl country luvin and they cook good too! Not to mention they grew up riding horses so you know they can keep a rhythm with good hip control and thrust power.

Go Canes

A dual threat with accuracy can be unstoppable. Good to hear, this kid looks **** good.

He looks like the real deal to me. I'd love to see us with a QB who can take off and get yards with his feet and still be able to run a sophisticated passing offense.

Agreed, QBs should be able to tuck it and run when they need to as long as they don't heavily rely on it, imagine if Kayaa could scramble and chew up some yards on the ground.

Oh yeah, I'm big on accuracy and love seeing a kid complete nearly 70% of his passes. Just saying, I don't mind seeing the % lower if the YPC is a lot higher. I'm still blown away by his low INT numbers. That means not only good accuracy, but good decisions.

Haven't read through this thread but wanted to see how everyone thinks his skill set resembles Lamar Jackson? They seem to have a similar frame, is Perry as explosive of an athlete?

Not the same kind of athlete but has a bit of a height advantage on Jackson which pays off when he's chucking it out of the pocket

Imagine that, something we've never had before. Don't think the rest of CFB would be too thrilled about that.

I am really excited about this kid. Hopefully he is starting within two years.

I really wish his OC would stop trying to run option with him because he's taking some unnecessary hits.

if the maxpreps stats are accurate, he's at 9.16 yards/attempt, which is fantastic. also don't forget that high school receivers tend to drop a lot of passes, so completing 70% means he's also throwing very catchable balls. i'm curious to see how well he keeps up this pace this year, but it's a **** good start.
