NIL/ Apologies

Didn't people claim that the Collective has other billionaires besides Ruiz and that he was just the loudest one.

Something i hadnt thought about, Maybe just maybe the money people saw last season and had to eat that staff change less than a year in and are on a wait and see with Cristobal. They spent alot of money last year between recruiting, buying out Manny, NIL and 2 new staffs basically. Maybe its put up time this season. Total speculation before one of u insiders run up in here with your crying

Being in the ACC hurts more then you think in my opinon.
So Oklahoma and Texas are going to the SEC and if we have comparable NIL packages to us and they all of sudden are doing much better, FSU got their NIL act together and they're almost forcing their way out of the ACC (and if they go anywhere it'll be the SEC) and just come off a 10 win season and their doing well on the trail.

See a pattern, being part of the SEC or being in the conversation of the SEC. Kids wanna play in front of their people at least during the season and that's part of it.

We gotta get out of the ACC, like yesterday.

What changes if we go there and don't have an elite level NIL system in place? I'm not saying we can't get there one day, but consider myself incredibly skeptical of that happening.

I'll tell you what happens, we're dead. We're a smaller school, student body and alumni. Sure, we've got a talent rich recruiting area, but that's bug school land. They'll always have more money, they always have. Lightning in a bottle we once had, but we can't go toe to toe with the way things are. We'll be a middle of the pack school, plan B or C for recruits.

Just like some of us tried to tell a lot of you when NIL came up. Be careful what you wish for. These elite football schools (not just on the field, but sleeping giants like Texas, A&M, Auburn, LSU, etc) will stop at nothing to get back on top. They've got hundreds of thousands to get money from with deep pocket guys as well. ****, they might as well let us in and bury us.

We really have no clue was is actually going on behind the scenes with recruiting. I remember when Bowden was with FSU , their recruiting would look like it was going nowhere then near signing day, them suddenly they get all these recruits right before signing day. I have no doubt we will end up with a very good class
This ain’t 1996 man, These recruits are bagged up by fall, there’s a reason our core class didn’t fall apart after horrendous season.

We literally sound like the schools we were whooping on the trail last year. “Don’t worry when Miami sucks it will fall apart” & “Don’t worry when we win 5 more games than Miami we’ll get some flips”…. Newsflash, money has changed the concept for 90% of these commits.

Revisit these arguments when we are not recruiting off 20 years of neglect and coming off 5-7. Honing in on one thing is excuses to me. Most of the things that are factors are against us. People try to bottle up and blame 1 single thing in every case. Also this case was always a up hill battle even if everything was ok. He is from Texas.

We sure have come along way from half this board claiming, “this is Miami! A real city! Those po-dunk towns can’t keep up with all the money here.”

Some of us tried to warn you that was a lie. But you didn’t wanna listen.
I wasn’t one of them.
Those po-dunk towns (schools) crank out 3, 4, or 5 times more graduates a year who are more passionate and more receptive to $upporting.
It’s just numbers.

I certainly don't blame anything on one single thing unless there's one single thing that made the difference or someone ****ed up.

I look at it like a former player. Would I take a leap of faith on us? If I were to make a list of pro's and con's, the con's would far outweigh the pro's. That's right now, gotta show me more, it's strictly business.

As a fan, the only thing that would bring me here would be my fandom. Wish I could ask my 18 year old self the same question and if I did, I'd more than likely choose us. We about to enter probation and starting to tail off.

The here and now matters and I get it. If I was looking at the class today, no way. That's not even the topic though. Go to this big power conference, with deeper pocket schools by a large margin, and they're producing results. I don't see how we'd have enough juice to compete year in and out. Raise the war chest, then okay. We up our game, they aren't going to settle for that. The U hasn't even been relevant in their day.

Rent goes up daily. The price today is not the price tomorrow.

I have to go with a hard no that somehow the staff of Merlin's didn't take into account time value of money, inflation, whatever package you like. I'm not sure what else to say. Up the game or go play at the kids table

They were also relentlessly parroting the “we’re just not going to overpay”

I just said this same thing earlier in a DM…

“what compelling reason is there for a kid from out of town to pick us if the money is the same, much less at a discount??”

Let’s remove the fandom for a minute. If we want to win the majority of these battles our offer has to be the one that is considered “overpaying”. Either that or play in a different pool
