I suppose I’m also going by the other 100 threads over the last few months where Bailey was never mentioned and Mateer was mentioned all the time

Whatever it is, it’s gonna be a big step down from Cam but I think the majority of the board wants Mateer

Not in the least bit. I have no clue if the staff is on CJ Bailey and I haven’t watched CJ Bailey play a single snap this season. NC State is god awful. My point is, a LOT of people on this board didn’t have glowing things to say about Cam during the process last year. And I think it’s safe to say he’s exceeded expectations. Whether it’s Bailey or someone else, don’t let this place influence whether or not you think someone can play.

1794, 12/5 so far, on a team that has underachieved based on preseason expectations. However the offense has been better with him in there.

Would I take him over Mateer? No. I could name like 3-5 other QBs that would get me more excited than Bailey. However, he has played good for a true freshman.

Competition is good for the program and I believe Mario aims to create that at all positions. Looking forward to the team getting better and seeing this position battle in particular.

People talked about Cam’s inconsistencies that hadn’t watched him, too. Mateer is the goods, he’s playing with a dog**** supporting cast but the physical gifts are evident and if they didn’t lead the country in drop yards his stats would look a lot better.

I will continue to spread the Mateer gospel until we manifest this.

I’m not saying he isn’t good or won’t be really good in the future. I’m saying he’s nowhere near what people on here are making him out to be.

Comparing him to Cam is apples to oranges. Cam had done it for multiple years and against P5 comp. And his issues weren’t accuracy they were fumbles and taking bad sacks. That’s an easy fix, bc it’s on the O line, not him. Mateer is having these issues against G5 comp and hasn’t even played a full year.
