Next year baseball

In a perfect world we could play Kep Brown at 3rd, assuming he still comes as talks have not ceased, and convert Chester to 2nd. That way we could play Justin Smith in the outfield. I do realize Chester isn't playing 2nd, I was just saying in a perfect world.
That's some creative thinking...I like it...it gets your best players on the field and in the lineup. I would not credit 3 with having that much imagination, though. I would be absolutely shocked if something like that did go down, but I'd be tickled to death that it did.

Creative could be borderline crazy and I don't think it is 3's lack of creativity if he doesn't create Shoe's perfect world, which is admittedly stretching. We have had problems over the years getting our regular position players to play good defense. Morris would be hacked to death by this place when we put a corner OF at 3rd and a CF at 2nd and they boot the ball around like its a soccer game. But at least we can blame "the Mexican" for that too.

I like the creativity and it will be interesting to see how the team and arms develop before next season and if some of our crazy ideas aren't as crazy as we think now.

Never said it wasn't crazy. It's a wild idea, and counter-intuitive. But, sometimes you have to think outside the box to find the right solution. Morris hasn't done anything outside of the box in a LONG time now. His track record is safe/steady as opposed to taking chances.

I'd kill Morris if he did put Chester/Brown in positions to fail at 2B/3B come the regular season, but I don't think he'll have the stones/wherewithal to even TRY that possible solution out, even in Fall Ball. That's where he should experiment and see if those guys are capable of switching from OF to IF. If they're not, that's fine. Keep them in the OF and let them develop.

I'm with you. You have to think the coaches have their roster in front of them and are thinking how do we get these pieces to fit. Would love to be able to see it for myself in the fall to see the athleticism of some of our guys and the moves we are talking about to see if we are crazy or bat **** ******* crazy.

It's OK to be crazy. You never know until you try. I hope they're taking a critical look at the roster as well and are thinking of these things.

It looks like Kep Brown will not sign with the Cardinals, which is a big coup for the team.
