Next year baseball

I wouldn't count on Eusebio leaving. I've heard the opposite. Also David Thompson might not go either. I haven't heard anything about him but I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay.

With another solid year, he could move up a few more rounds in the draft.

I don't even think he would have to match this year's stats in order to move up. He just needs to show that he's consistent.

I agree. He could also improve his defense and that will help. Heard there are some concerns and that he could be moved to outfield at the next level.

I see him as a future 1st baseman...I don't think he has the arm for OF (which is the concern for him at 3B).

The Miguel Cabrera route: third to left to first.

If DT stays that would be huge for us, smith needs to be out there the kid is a monster, i look for heyward to have a big year, pitching still might be a problem for us next year

Thompson is gone. He said so immediately after our loss to UF that he was going to miss it. Eusebio could be back but I'm hoping he goes.

Yes DT announced to the herald immediately after our 2nd loss that he has played his last game at UM. And I agree on Eusebio. He's a good player, I just want to start fresh with Chester in CF.

Also with Kep Brown, I've read some people are comparing him to Corey Hart. Brown is a big kid (6'5, 230).. I wouldn't mind him getting some reps at 1B as well as Corner OF, and DH.

Eusebio signed apparently. Looks like Chester, Heyward, and Abreu in OF, atleast in the beginning until Kep may take a spot.

Yea that allcanes write up seemed to be off a bunch. Not sure the weekend rotation is so definite. I think some arms may develop to take place of Sosa.

At this point, 2B and the starting rotation are what worry me going into next season. Losing Isky if he signs with Milwaukee is going to hurt as bad as losing DT. And if we go into next season w/Sosa as one of the weekend guys, I'll be very disappointed.

I'm not worried at all about the OF--that will shake itself out with all of the depth we're going to have there. The issue there is finding innings for everybody's bat that we need in the lineup.

Agreed, I thought D. Garcia threw well enough this season to flip spots with Sosa next year. We'll see if Morris wants to throw out another 3 lefty rotation (Woodrey, Mediavilla, Garcia). Hopefully Beauprez get's himself ready to go for next season. That kids got a big arm if he can keep his command under control. I also liked what I saw from Lepore and Honiotes. Maybe one of them can take a mid-week spot.

As of right now, I think the rotation should be Woodrey/Mediavilla/Garcia, unless a guy like Pimentel or one of the incoming Freshmen takes a spot. Speaking of incoming Freshmen...what's the low-down on the pitchers we have coming in? Do any of them project as being good enough to possibly come in and be in the rotation?

Sad part for me about Beauprez is that he's got the body type to be an innings-eating horse in the rotation. Love his velocity, he just needs to learn how to pitch. A guy with his velocity needs to have only a changeup, and then either a good 12-6 curve or a splitter. If he can add to his repertoire, he could be big-time.

Andrew Cabezas from Coral Gables High, and Isaiah Musa from Westminster both have big time stuff. They have a chance to contribute right away.

In a perfect world we could play Kep Brown at 3rd, assuming he still comes as talks have not ceased, and convert Chester to 2nd. That way we could play Justin Smith in the outfield. I do realize Chester isn't playing 2nd, I was just saying in a perfect world.

That's some creative thinking...I like it...it gets your best players on the field and in the lineup. I would not credit 3 with having that much imagination, though. I would be absolutely shocked if something like that did go down, but I'd be tickled to death that it did.
