“Florida is drastically improved on the line of scrimmage, which is eye opening,” a source close to the program told SDS. “With one of the best young players in the country in DJ Lagway and a defense making strides, we feel we more NIL investment in players, especially in the portal, could make the Gators a great team in 2025. If we can do that without a coaching change, it creates even more room for NIL investment.”
"Drastically improved on the line of scrimmage, which is eye opening".
WHAT?
The Gator is in the "Load More" category on rushing offense. 83 out of 133 (don't despair, F$U is 132).
I would expect that ranking to decline, as they face three tough opponents and they are playing a walk-on QB. For the record, The Gator was ranked #78 in 2023. "Drastically improved", huh?
Sacks allowed? Hey, The Gator just cracked the Top 50, so no need to "Load More".
Now, in all fairness, The Gator was ranked #115 last year, so there seems to be "improvement". However, in 2023, the immobile Graham Schmutz was the starter all year, while this year The Gator has benefited from playing DJ Lagway more. I'd still expect to see them take more than 1.5 sacks per game over this next stretch of 3 SEC games.
Soooo...you be the judge. "Drastically improved on the line of scrimmage"? Yeah, that's just a lie, although I guess we have to give The Gator credit for off-loading Richie Leonard onto the SemenHoles.
