I'd get a "make him say no" offer to Lagways people by end of day.

He has some loyalty to Napier, but he has to be your number 1 guy in the portal.

Worse case scenario, it forces Florida to overpay for him.

If your AD thinks a public message in support of a HC is necessary 2/3 of the way through the season, that's probably a good indicator your HC won't be around for long.

It would literally be the funniest thing if they bring him back mainly because of Lagway, and then Lagway proceeded to transfer out lol. Dont think that is likely, but would be funny.

I do think it may make sense to keep him if they end on a high note and they fire their AD soon. Let the new AD have some real time to get familiar with program and do a legit search for the new football coach.

At the end of the day UF could be doing WAAAY worse than they have this year especially after we absolutely blew them out. Like they could be FSU lol

We are set NIL wise. Joe isn't gonna let the faucet close, he'll probably open it up even more.

Few thoughts:

Who are you targeting? How much will it cost? Who is available this year that won't be next? Who might be available next year that probably isn't this year?

Lane is the obvious choice.. but he would be there next season if needed. A guy like Cignetti? Might want to see it another season. Same with Elko or other guys.



Don't get me wrong, if they have their guy, shoot your shot. But if you're on the fence, I'd sit tight. Save money. Keep Lagway. Go portal heavy. Maybe salvage a top 15 class. Be ready to pivot when needed.

/also have a hard time letting Strickland make that decision. He's been a train wreck.
