"New" ACC Predictions

Interesting that Athlon and others predict us to lose 1 of the 2 nonconf games despite having better talent than our opponent AND 2 conf games where we are more talented. Of course predictions are just opinions but why the disrespect?

From the prognosticators' perspective, it's bc we will have a freshman QB starting who has never played a down of CFB.

Why was Dallas Crawford left to rot as a RB until now? Especially considering the caliber of safety play we have received over the recent years.

Great question, he'd be a 2nd yr starting safety by now at least. BUT lady year we really had no options behind Duke. We had a hobbled OT and a soft Bus. The UNC game alone may have been worth it to me.

HStokes....can you explain Penn State? Tennessee?

You saying we dont have the horses? Maybe that has something to do with our coaches liking Armbrister more than Skai Moore

I am not saying this team does not have talent. What I am saying is this team had 0 SR talent and the talent on this team last season was still young and making mistakes. Also all of the blame is not on the scheme, we simply had guys out there who would not or could not make the play even when it was right in front of them.

2013 Defensive SR's
  1. Curtis Porter
  2. Luther Robinson
  3. Shayon Green
  4. Kalvin Cain
  5. Tyrone Cornileus
  6. Jimmy Gaines
  7. Kacy Rodgers
  8. AJ Highsmith
  9. Justin Renfrow
  10. David Gilbert

Now ask yourself will Miami miss any of these 10 guys listed??? The answer is **** NO. There is not one guy on that list that would crack the 3 deep of any great Miami defense ever.

I believe the most talented players on the 2013 defense, with the exception of Denzel, were all SO's and FR's. There is simply no way anyone can expect those guys to be ready that fast to dominate week in and week out. With the bulk of the talent on defense now being JR's we should see a much better defense this upcoming season.

Who is better??
  1. Curtis Porter vs Michael Wyche JR
  2. Luther Robinson vs Jelani Hamilton JR
  3. Shayon Green vs Tyriq McCord JR
  4. Kalvin Cain vs Chad Thomas FR
  5. Tyrone Cornileus vs Raphael Kirby JR
  6. Jimmy Gaines vs Denzel Perryman SR
  7. Kacy Rodgers vs Jamal Carter SO
  8. AJ Highsmith vs Dallas Crawford RJR
  9. Justin Renfrow vs Calvin Heurtelou JR
  10. David Gilbert vs Al-Quadin Muhammad SO

I personally believe that the guys who will be replacing the 2013 SR's are better football players and because of that this defense will be better. There is no way Jamal Carter misses as many easy tackles as AJ Highsmith did in 2013. I can't see Dallas getting beat as often as Kacy Rodgers was in 2013. You can't tell me that Tyriq McCord will miss as many sacks as Shayon Green did. If McCord was in on any of those plays where Green whiffed on the QB, I can almost guarantee that the outcome would have been different.

As far as Penn State (7-5) and Tennessee (5-7) what exactly is your question? They both played young guys and struggled all season.

In terms of Skai, the staff totally blew that one. They went all in on Matthew Thomas and paid the price big time. I actually believe this staff projected Skai Moore and Jermaine Grace at the same position and Grace was just higher on their board. They were only taking 3 LB during the 2013 cycle and the 3 they wanted were Jermain Grace, Matthew Thomas, and JUCO Devante Bond.

If you recall Alex Figueroa was not offered until 3 weeks before Christmas. The only reason he was offered was because Devante Bond had academic issues.

Not really... He won a game for us and that was against UNC... He pretty much struggled the remainder of the year... That being said, you can't argue with double digit Tds...

Nice find..I'm sure it will produce crickets from the slurper brigade.

It's obviously been a talent deficiency that had us losing to Duke, Vag Tech, and Loserville right guys?

The cupboards were bare, blame Shannon, blame Coker, blame Shapiro, blame Cristobal, blame the NCAA for not giving Ojomo an extra year of eligibility, blame everyone except Dorito Golden.

the slurpers as you would say are here, those players are now the ones we are saying will lead this team to 10 plus wins. We are lead by the country club guys from the last regime the past few years. Even Dabo did not have to deal with the crap we had to deal with. Now I will be happy to jump on your side if the guys don't get it done this year. Even last year we were led by the underclassmen, not the juniors and seniors. Best defensive players will be juniors and below. DP is a stud but not the "big" play(maker) a McCord, AQM , Howard or Bush are. I hope he's first time All-American. But to not look at our program with this staff is total is just not being fair!!!

He would have beat Duke if they would have run the ball 50 times instead of playing arena ball with Morris. They called a horrible game. We averaged like 6
yards a carry against a front 7 we consistently moved the ball against, yet Coley wanted to air it out. We needed him there. and he will be a huge addition to the defense this coming year.

DP has made more plays than any of the players you named... Aside from Howard, we have only witnessed flashes of potentional from AQM, Bush and McCord...

Oh okay... I actually missed the Duke game so I can't say what would have happened... I'm assuming Coley started to get pass happy due to us being behind and Duke TOP from killing us on the ground... I personally think Crawsford is too slow for db so I'm looking forward to him playing this year but you can't argue with double digit Tds... The kid wasnt Duke but he brought his own style to the position... He was productive at running back...

8-4 and 5-3 ACC is a bit optimistic, and that's an understatement.

So, a sorry *** VT team, with no QB, will have little trouble being light years better than us again? Sounds about right.

And BTW, 8-4, 5-3 ACC should be a one way ticket to position coach at some clown college for Golden, anyway.

Talked to a newsman from Louisville today, and discussed Petrino a bit, and asked what he expected.

He rattled off Petrino's accomplishments wherever he went, and I got a kick out of this: "Petrino's offenses will score with one-armed receivers. Fact."

When I think of Golden/Dorito's defensive scheme . . .

Dorito Golden would give up yards to receivers with no arms.

Far from it, the game was close late into the 4th, which it should not have been, they were doing what we should have been doing which is run the **** ball. They won by running the ball and pulled away late into the 4th, about 6 minutes left. Crawford was serviceable for the ACC, not a star but serviceable, he is going to where he should be. We had no options, but he was a good number 2 at the time.

Oh okay, I didn't know that about the score... As for Crawdford, I agree... He's not a star but he's a solid number 2 guy... He proved me wrong last year...

After UNC he was good for a yard a carry, unless we needed a yard, then he was good for no gain.
