CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- One of the investigators who worked the NCAA's inquiry of Miami athletics wrote a letter on former booster and convicted felon Nevin Shapiro's behalf just days before he was sentenced two years ago.
In the letter dated June 3, 2011, Ameen Najjar told U.S. District Judge Susan Wigenton that Shapiro assisted the NCAA with investigations involving a number of schools.
Najjar also wrote that the NCAA "could utilize Mr. Shapiro in the future as a consultant."
Shapiro is the central figure in the NCAA's case against Miami after he gave extra benefits to dozens of athletes and recruits over an eight-year span.
Shapiro was sentenced to 20 years in prison for masterminding a $930 million Ponzi scheme.
Najjar is no longer with the NCAA. The NCAA did not immediately respond Wednesday to a request for comment.

Considering the NCAA in not a law enforcement agency and doesn't conduct criminal cases, this has to be one of the dumbest things I have heard thus far concerning the NCAA. He provides ZERO value to the government..

Their investigators are some of the worst I have ever encountered.

This will be one of the focuses of Sean Allen's ESPN Outside the Lines that I mentioned yesterday. I've been told that current enforcement members are CC'ed on the letter and that this was not disclosed during the internal investigation.

out of the many stupid decisions and actions the NCAA has made in our investigation, this just might take the cake.

These idiots make the Postal Service look like a model of efficiency.

Just when I dont think they can do anything else to hurt their case they prove to the world just how corrupt and inept they are.

Seriously brings a tear to my eye knowing of they keep pushing that Don Donna is going to skull**** them back to the days before the forward pass.
