NCAA rumors from CS

Well, without saying whether Ferman is right or wrong or just promoting traffic for his website lets look at these issues:

1. Ferman does not mention show causes against coaches and most of the people I've talked to think that Fernandez, Morton, Hill and possibly Hurtt are in big trouble.
2. The whole issue of whether certain NCAA COI members should have been on the panel and what they knew hasn't been addressed and that is a huge, make that humongous, issue that's head is about to rise. Nobody has talked about that yet.
3. If there are large scholarship losses, another bowl loss, lack of institutional control cited, players banned for not speaking Donna and UM are forced to go to court that they are being denied due process by a monopoly breaking antitrust laws. The NCAA continues to self-implode with their stupidity.

UM will appeal before any lawsuit.

They have to appeal first, that's agreed the NCAA process must be followed to allow a lawsuit.

I personally think Ferman's guesses or speculation are way too harsh and don't take into consideration Miami's self-imposed penalties, the cooperation Miami gave the NCAA and the NCAA's underhanded deceptive tactics that I believe violated both state and federal law.

If Ferman's predictions are correct Donna Shalala should ask Michael Glazier (our outside attorney) for a refund.

As long as the scholly reductions are light to moderate and there's no more bowl bans, I doubt Shalala appeals. This whole thing needs to be over and in the interest of that she'll take the sanctions and close the book.

Give me 15 over 3 years and 5 years probation and call it a day.

Way to much. We have been on probation basically for 3 yrs now. Drop the LOIC charge. No scholly reductions is warranted but I expect some(total b.s). The investigation has hurt and limited our recruiting enough. Our own penalties have been over and above what we deserve. Jmo. Anything more than a short time of probation and 9 total ships is a travesty.

NCAA rules 12.2343.233
University of Miami aka The U, will always be a target.

You know, I almost believe that really is in there...this has become so absurd for so long, that the truth of it all is stranger than fiction. That tears it.

You can poke, prod, and tease a bull so many times until it finally just goes off in response. What moves can we make? Within legal parameters in the courts, fighting them with conventional, lawyered up weapons? - but that could take years and cost thousands of lives...so I say this...

They wanna drag it out, fine let em drag it out - so, just flip it on them. Say nothing for now, carry on, win and gain major "holy crap look at those Canes" publicity growing into huge national attention, get the bowl bid (the bigger the better) and agree to play in it anyway, and throw down. The media will forget Johnny Football for 5 minutes and hype the ever lovin crap out of it. We could even print flyers that say "end the tyrany".

If any school has the balls to do this (in the national spotlight no less) who's more cut out for it than the U? Get the nation behind us on fighting against the NCAA bullies and expose these ****less vampires in the burning daylight of their own corruption, bias, prejudice against this program, and total bumbling ineptitude (which they are trying desperately, arrogantly to cover up).

Other schools (Penn State, you can't come) will join in, the day will be ours and before you know it, we will have brung the NCAAKKK down.

Put on our pirate patch gents. We comin!

Any news on Perez? Last I heard she was possibly in trouble with the bankruptcy court, but nothing since.

People are speculating and nobody even knows what the real allegations are. They have never been released publicly.

i remember when there was talk about the NCAA trying to force former UM players to cooperate by threatening them, saying they would be banned from the UM Campus for a number of years, but what does that have to do with striking their records off the books like with Reggie Bush.... that's a completely different type of punishment.

It is very hard to prove that the NCAA exercises monopoly power, because they usually trot out the defense that the member institutions are voluntary participants in an intercollegiate club. Nothing under the law is compelling schools to abide by the NCAA's rules, except their own desire to participate in the club's sports. I think you'd stand a better chance making the argument that the NCAA is actually a state actor and is violating our due process rights. Anyways, like others have said, this is down the road a ways...

Jackson and Reynolds both heard it might be the 8th (this Thursday)
others have said September (i.e. UF game week)
so bottom line is we should know something within the next 4 weeks

from everything that has happened, don't be surprised if the NCAA announces it over the loud speakers right before kick off of the UF game

If this happened everyone at the game should caravan to Indy right after we win and launch a siege on their offices.
