.@CanesFootball news of note this morning from Golden interviews: Gray Crow has moved to H-back (from QB) and DB Nate Dortch has left team.

about that time when guys start to realize where they are on the depth chart heading into the season.

Dortch is a good looking prospect...if he can't get any PT, must mean we have some ballers in the secondary?
Or our roster management is horrible??

Most likely it's somewhere in between.

The timing of this sucks, because wont have as many of these guys playing on Special teams who have experience. Gonna put pressure on us to get a few guys in this class and next year too.

Buck Ortega would be proud of the move Gray Crow did...

thats a good point. we are losing bodies for special teams. Hope and Dortch def could have been used there.

Ortega was always known as an athlete. Is Gray an athlete, or is this just hiding him somewhere?
I think time will tell, of course. I think (as I said in the other thread regarding Crow) is how does his body respond to the weight gain? Can he gain it quick enough to be a factor this Fall, or is this year basically going to be Crow changing his body so he can be an H-Back next year?

I don't think athleticism or his smarts to pick up the position are that big of a question. I know everyone wants to compare him to Ortega (just like every white LB we get is the next Dan Morgan), but we won't really need crow to be a TE-type of H-Back. I think he's going to be a glorified FB and catch the ball out of the backfield sometimes. I think he's got enough athleticism to do that.

He would have never started. Not even in a nickel package... It's ok, maybe he can get some real PT at a smaller school. I wish him the best... Tks. for being a good Cane!

Lol you people are crazy if you think Crow is going to get a meaningful snap at H Back. They should have just put him on the coaching staff.

You forgot Carter and Gayot.

First offensive play on Labor Day, H-Back Option Triple Pass. Heaps to Crow, back to Heaps, who then arm punts it right to the Louisville secondary.

Didn't even notice that. for some reason they have them listed as just Safeties and not DB's. Maybe because they both can play LB too? IDK

6 Jamal Carter S 6-1 207 So. Homestead, Fla. (Miami Southridge HS)
7 Marques Gayot S 6-1 205 Fr. Lake Worth, Fla. (Park Vista Community HS

While that's true, I think the positive of freeing up limited scholarships outweighs the special teams loss.
