I've always wondered why more recruits don't sign with Hawaii. Get to live in paradise and go to school for free.

Hawaii is no paradise man.

You a terrorist?

Its pretty hood out there man. Big Meth Problem, alcholism everywhere, broken spirit. If you're a white guy from Nebraska on his honeymoon, its the best place you'll ever be. If you live there, different story.

Kind of like Miami actually.

You got something to say, buddy?

Miami is the kind of town that the tourists and people who move there as adults enjoy alot more than the locals. Theres a lot to love about Miami but I think most people who grew up there, myself included, would have trouble calling it a "Happy" city.

I grew up in Miami when we seemed to have race riots every couple years. When South Beach was just retirement tenements.
Yeah, it was a happy place. You could find square grouper on Miami Beach, girls didn't have muffin tops, we thought abstinence was an exotic French liquor, dime well drinks on Wednesday night at The Button South, condoms were something you lived in, and the Canes were the kings of college football.

Good times.

That's fair.

I wonder what those days were like. My family was in Miami back in the day when South Beach had signs that said "No dogs, No Blacks, No Jews" Can't make that up. I wonder what it was like when it was a sleepy southern town. I'm a musician and sound tech, grew up in the Miami underground scene. I would have loved to see Miami when it was a thriving Jazz and Gospel scene. Now, no touring musician with a lick of sense comes to Miami, and its for the same reason that the Canes have attendance problems. Theres heart in Miami but its spread flat and far, and the majority doesn't understand to support local arts, sports, just basic community things. I still have a huge place in my heart for Miami but the overall pulse of the city is bandwagon at best, and the Performing arts, sports included, are fighting an uphill battle.

That is the case for majority of the cities where people grow up in and others move there and think everything's great.

Naw, but sometimes I feel close to that old. Those riots were not that long ago 1980 to the mid 90's I think. The mcduffie riot. The riot when Lozano shot that kid on the motorcycle. The one where the cop shot that kid in the back playing pinball or something like that.
