My thoughts on the class (long)

Before I go to bed I'm gonna say this and I want you to let it sink in.

*The physically most imposing DB in South FLA is going to LSU and wasn't offered by Miami.
*The best cover Corner in South FLA, 1st team All-State, 9 interceptions, wasn't offered by Miami cause he's 160lbs instead 170lbs.
*The most explosive player in Broward County, the best return man in the state, is going to Georgia and wasn't offered by Miami.
*The best QB's in South FLA weren't offered by Miami because they're "too short" but were offered by Auburn, Florida, FSU, etc.

These kids were good enough for staffs who have decent track records of signing and developing talent, but they weren't good enough for Miami.

I was under the impression that Miami's recipe for success was to sign the best players in their backyard and only go out of town for kids who are special. We're not signing the best players in our backyard, we're ignoring some of them.

Level of competition cannot be underestimated.
If If I'm on the fence between a 5'8" WR from South Florida and a 5'8" WR from Carolina, I'm taking the kid who balled out in South Florida.
If I'm on the fence between two CB's who are 5'9"-5'10", I'm taking the one who was 1st team all-state and had 9 interceptions.
If I'm on the fence between a Safety from South FLA with offers from LSU and a Safety from NJ, I'm probably taking the kid from South FLA. Pretty sure LSU has a track record for developing DB's.

South FLA kids get the benefit of the doubt with me. The only time I choose a similar kid from another state is if that kid is clearly special. But if the kid excelled in South FLA and stood out against South FLA talent...yeah...I'll take him. Call me crazy.

All that reads like is south Florida bias. So you can let that sink in. It isn't surprising that a coach from south Florida would take kid from down there over a kid from Jersey who Ohio State wanted. They develop DBs don't they? No surprise a WR from Carolina must be the lesser of the two prospects in the eyes of a south Florida coach even when he had offers from Oregon and Ohio State. Balled out against the best competition at the Opening and caught a TD at an all-star game while playing with a torn ACL. Miami goes to California and gets an elite QB and the talk in south Florida is about a kid who may not play QB in college.

******' McKenzie looked way better in that All-Star game than Berrios did. Way more "sudden" and explosive. The opening? Really? A ******' 7-on-7 camp? Dude, Berrios is good but you can't ignore what McKenzie has been able to do in South Florida against high schools who are loaded with D-1 kids.

I don't give a **** about Miami taking QB's from Cali. That's where I prefer to get QB's from. I'm talking about Corners, Safeties and Receivers right now. Positions that are bread in our backyard. And in terms of QB's, we signed ******' Rosier. ****, if that's what we're gonna sign when we go out of state than I rather just pick-up White from Broward County. Good enough for Auburn, good enough for me.

****in' hilarious how this guy uses the double-standard.

So Jenkins is good because Penn State and Ohio State came sniffing around but the fact that OU, A&M and Clemson offered Dowels means nothing. LOL

Funny how that works. When I had a huge debate on here about Fabian Moreau going to UCLA and being sniffed by Ohio State late in the recruiting process everybody negged my *** to high heaven and called me every name in the book while saying the kid wasn't a Miami caliber athlete.

The out-of-state offers are only respected if Miami signs said kid. If Miami doesn't sign the kid then he wasn't Cane material regardless of what his other offers were.

Miami signs kid = "This is a great pick-up. He had offers from OSU."
Miami doesn't sign kid = "He wasn't Miami material. His only other major offer came from OSU."

Lmao. This site. SMH

You're arguing with yourself about things I never brought up. I never questioned Dowels ability to play once. I don't really care. I asked you about his recruitment. Not whether he could play or not.

You're not following.

It's not about you questioning their ability to play. It's about the double standard you're using. You're referring to offers when speaking on out-of-state prospects but you're not using that same standard with the South FLA kids.

You're saying the out-of-state kids are good enough for Miami because they had offers from OSU, PSU, etc. Well what about the **** kids FROM SOUTH FLORIDA who had offers from similar programs?

Follow me?

Once again I've never said any player you brought up wasn't good enough for Miami. I didn't question whether Battle, McKenzie or Dowels were good enough for Miami. Thats an argument you want to have with the staff but you're having it with me for some reason.

WTF….

Berrios was playing on a torn ACL and still had a big 3rd down and a TD catch…..

Mike Rumph and I talk every once and a while and last night we spoke for about 45 minutes about Miami and their recruiting. We talked about Dowels, McKenzie, etc etc etc.

On McKenzie, we both agreed that a kid who embarrasses legit South FLA high school talent on a regular basis should be offered. 5'8". 6'7". 4'5". I don't give a ****. You make an exception for some players, and McKenzie was the kind of athlete that you make an exception for.

On Dowels, Rumph said he's the best Corner he's ever seen, literally. He said that he's NEVER seen anyone cover McKenzie until Dowels got on campus, and Dowels didn't allow him to catch a single pass that whole week. His exact words were "****, I couldn't cover that kid in my prime." He said scouts would come to look at other kids and they would see Dowels and immediately pick up their cell phones to call their head coach. That's exactly how he got his Oklahoma offer. Scouts would say "Coach I never seen anybody play man coverage like this." Then he spoke about how Dowels basically dominated Winky Flowers and Durante in their game against Miami Jackson.

He said the same thing I've been saying for months, you offer those kids despite a lack of inches or pounds. On Dowels, you sacrifice 10 pounds so you can have the best cover Corner in South Florida. On McKenzie, you sacrifice his lack of size so you can sign the most explosive player in Broward County.

If that ****ery wasn't enough you can add the non-recruitment of Battle. Good enough for LSU but not good enough for Miami. Dowels = good enough for A&M, Clemson and Oklahoma but not good enough for Miami. McKenzie = good enough for ND, Florida and Georgia but not good enough for Miami. Scouts literally come down and here and say "Miami doesn't want you son? Well come onnnnn downnnn."

Rumph also told me that Miami rarely shows their face at Heritage, that's why his kids could give two ****s about that school. Take that for what it's worth. Yall keep on proceeding with your blind faith, meanwhile the best play-makers from South Florida are going elsewhere. Who wants the state leader in interceptions, the kid who blankets Ermon Lane's of the world, give me Ryan Mayes baby!

Honest question: Why do you think AG and his assistants ignore the local talents that you just mentioned? Aren't they worrying about keeping their jobs? Keep winning 9 games a year won't keep them around much longer. Are there other factors than just pure athletic talent? Character issues? Family issues? Handlers? Grades? Other factors that fans don't necessarily know about?

I just find it hard to believe that AG, Hurley Brown and Michael Barrow do things intentionally to accelerate their own demise as coaches at Miami.

Well this board doesn't have a hive brain. Talking to one person isn't the same as talking to us all. Stop battling the board as a whole.

Brown and Barrow don't make the final decisions, they go through Al and his homeboy. I guarantee you Barrow and/or Brown would sign a kid like McKenzie and/or Battle.

They're not recruiting certain kids because of inches and pounds. An inch too short or 10 pounds too light. In their eyes that's the difference between Dowels and Bethel/Turner/Mayes.

While we just signed a top 10 class and a 400 pound guerilla has been lifted off our back people are complaining about not getting mckenzie .... I pray for you:rollcanes:

So the kid with the torn ACL didn't look as explosive but made two big plays in the game. Ok.

Man, those plays were pedestrian. Stop. It's much different than McKenzie making the D-1 athletes down here look stupid on a regular basis.
