My honest to God assessment of Jake Heaps

Stephen Morris has a better comp. % than Heaps.

That should tell u all u need to know about Heaps.
Stephen Morris had a better completion % than Dorsey too both as juniors and seniors.

Comparing Morris to a QB that was 38-2 at makes sense.

Can say whatever but the fact is we don't and won't know a **** thing til the pads come on.

I'd agree if Heaps didn't have 3 underwhelming years of college ball under his belt.

So how does Morris having a higher comp % than Heaps tell us all we need to know about him?
I think I'll wait to see how he does in camp.

Not necessarily. Diffent circumstances different offenses. Not saying the kid is going to be Drew Brees but as has been mentioned, the talent surrounding him at Miami is far superior to what he has had at BYU and KU. He knows he doesn't have to be a savior, just a distributor and game manager. Also, you never know when the lightbulb will come on. Everyone is different.

It means he's a worse passer than Morris. Morris at least made some progress from when he first stepped on the field. Heaps has regressed every season he's played so far.

Maybe you're right.

Maybe, the lightbulb never comes on for Heaps and he's just not a very good QB.

I'd love to see this bumped in 4-5 months with me looking like a fool though.

I've got hope for this kid.... It's about time we caught a break at the QB spot. Hopefully, it's Heaps.

Looking at his mediocre measurables (size, speed, arm) combined with his lack of accuracy, I'm wondering why Heaps was a top 5 rated QB coming out of HS.

If Williams isn't ready, it's his job. It'll be fun to see if everything comes together for him.

For me the more interesting question is, why don't we have QB coach? I remember we use to back in the day. Is it not allowed, a cost cutting thing, or just a matter limit on total #number of coaches and choice of where to put one? Anybody know?

Coley is the QB coach.

So, just because his completion % went down, he's a worse passer than Morris? So, can I make the argument that Dorsey is a worse passer than Morris? His completion % went from 61.7% his freshman year to 58.4% his sophomore year, to 57.9% his junior year to 56.5% his senior year. He clearly regressed, going by your logic, and his completion % was less than Morris' his last two years, so, by your logic, he's a worse passer than Morris, since that, apparently, is the only criteria.

Makes an absolute declaration...then when provided with evidence that would suggest his absolute statement is ludicrous...he backtracks and attempts to use a qualifier that has nothing to do with his original statement, to support said absolute declaration.

Moral Of The Story: Know what the **** you're talking about before you open your trap

I'm just glad in that video I saw him make all three level of throws. Morris threw the bullet and the deep ball. He never used the middle of the field. He never checked it down to Duke, and Duke was wide open in the Florida game and we had backs get open in the FSU game that Morris ignored.

As long as this guy will just get the ball to the playmakers and not try and do too much, we'll be alot better off than we could imagine. And if he doesn't do that, we're ****ed. So we'll see

So the only good things about Heaps is the OL WR and RB.
Wonderful

Thanks. Randy

/ honestly though, the OL, WR, RB might be enough
