Move DJ Dallas to Corner

My wording sucked.

No I don't think it will solve our problems, most of them are on Diaz anyway. I just think DJs best chance position is either CB or S, I say S. Wish they started him there from when he arrived on campus
All good.

I actually agree that he should've been moved to full time RB or DB once he got here, I just think it's a lil late to move him to CB now.

for this season, yes.

but i think they need to take a long hard look, and decide on him at CB for next year. He could be a really good WR, an above average TB, but I think he has All ACC ability at corner. that's just me.

and by the way, am i the only one that thinks Delaney is out of position and should be moved to strong safety?
The thing with Deejay as a DB is, people think he played it a ton in HS when he didn't.

He played some Safety but only in the 2nd half of games when his team had a big lead, otherwise he was primarily a QB.

Delaney is a 4th year Senior with experience & he looks lost out there, **** Mike Jack has been here for years & even he looked confused, had blown coverages & missed assignments.

So to expect Deejay to just switch to CB without having taken a single rep at that spot the entire time he's been at Miami is just putting too much on the kid.

And I actually think Delaney might be better off playing Safety if he continues to struggle, having a different look at the field might help him some, because he looks like he's really struggling with understanding his assignments.

then you and i agree, El ... great minds think alike!

These aren't mutually exclusive moves. Whether Delaney stays and starts at corner or moves to safety, it's clear he's not the only problem. The entire first, second and third string rotation at DB is failing expectations. Meanwhile, RB and especially WR seem comparably much better off. Dallas can take someone else's reps or even spot THIS year at DB. And while we have total studs coming in at DB next year, we have the same situation at RB and WR. So if he finds a role in the rotation at DB this year, he's that much more prepared to stay a starter or key contributor next season. That kid was ALL CANE during the recruiting process. We need to get him on the field and let him earn a role.

Jeff Thomas would be a good corner, I watched his highlights as a corner and they looked just as impressive as him with the ball in his hands. we need a talent influx at corner bad.

He hasn't taken any reps in 9 months at CB, but you think we should just move him to CB in a week & that'll solve everything?

Think about it for second, you would be asking a TF WR to switch to CB with ZERO reps for an entire season to just up & move to a new spot & be more effective than the other CB's we already have... Doesn't make any sense at all.

I think there are fair arguments to be made on either side. Yours is most definitely the traditional obvious point based simply on lack of reps.

The other side, quite frankly, is that the entire squad is lacking a huge amount of reps. Moreover, I'm not sure any of us anticipated Dean not really being ready and poor Delaney just looking like..well, completely lost and out of place. That clearly changes things at the position and puts us at a HUGE disadvantage against ACC teams that spread out.

So, I have no doubt that they will not move Deejay or Thomas...but if they have the "ability" and/or have the played the position before...and the secondary keeps getting abused....why not start getting the reps in and let them get on the field? Again...I think they play the hand they are dealt...but not crazy. Right now Deejay's natural athletic ability would likely be an upgrade over Delaney's concrete boots and missed tackles.

Coach Kool better get the DL to turn it up another level, or Manny's back 7 is gonna cost us the ACC coastal

hard to do when the ball is snapped within 3 seconds... they got us figured out with the short game and we don't got the db's to prevent it. not until year. Delaney and Dean let us down. The good thing is that the short game does not work if your behind in the game. Manny is playing the lesser of all evils, i.e. giving up the short game with chit **** zone defense cause we don't have any cover cb's. Nothin Kool can do about it.

Diaz is letting us down, not the players. Blaming the players for bad D, didn't we learn from the last staff? Our players are plenty good enough to shut down BCC and limit Toledo, neither happened because of the scheme.

You make teams work, not give up free yards. Giving up free yards also gives our DL zero chance to get pressure. F from Diaz so far this year, better change quick.

That would be unfair to him & wouldn't help the Defense any.

He hasn't taken a single snap or rep at CB the entire time he's been here since enrolling early.

Look, I was as critical of Delaney as anyone, but Deejay Dallas isn't the answer at CB.

Either Delaney is just gonna have to be Coached up, or Young, Bandy, Mike Jack & Dean can step up when we need'em to.

But, trying to have a TF just try out a new position as difficult as CB on a whim right as we start our ACC schedule would be downright stupid.

I'm with ya man. And on top of what you said, when Walton went down yesterday, my first thought (after wtf are gonna do) was.. I wonder if DJ is about to move to RB. I don't really want him to do that either. For a number of reasons. I'd rather him stick to one position. But if he's getting reps at other positions you'd have to think RB is where he'd get them.

So why is it that you guys think that a freshman that isn't as ahead as Hartley and Thomas at WR, can go ahead and learn two other roles that he hasn't play mostly? Why do we randomly yearly pick a guy and make him all world in our minds. A few years ago it was Choc and that thing continues till now despite two sets of coaches not playing him at all unless necessary.

Lets let DJ grow into the WR role and not over burden him and then its like Jason Geathers that played all over and didn't master anything.

so dj dallas does well by standing on the sideline buried on the depth chart behind richards, cager, berrios, mullins, harley, langham, thomas seriously? not to mention the recruits that are coming in next year get that man on defense and let him ride that side of the field out wr will not work out for him here either defense or rb

this. no chance he can step in right now and help but how did moving DJ to WR ever make sense in light of the lack of depth at CB?

It wouldn't hurt to give him a try in practice to see how quickly he picks it up. Sometimes you're better off going with a superior athlete over a scrub....at least he has the ability to make up ground after a mistake....Delaney has become a easy target to get picked on....analysts have repeatedly said it during both games...its definitely time to make a move. IMO

Disagree. I've said it since he was recruited, Dallas NFL position is CB or S.

Not to mention some of the problem with DD is that he doesn't know what he's supposed to do on some plays. That isn't going to get better with a guy with even less experience. Even when he gets burned, it seems like he's confused as to what his teammates are doing more than that he just can't run.

The problem ....hes become a go to target for toast...not knowing assignments is not a excuse....Bandy looked fine out there as frosh....
