The thing with Deejay as a DB is, people think he played it a ton in HS when he didn't.All good.My wording sucked.
No I don't think it will solve our problems, most of them are on Diaz anyway. I just think DJs best chance position is either CB or S, I say S. Wish they started him there from when he arrived on campus
I actually agree that he should've been moved to full time RB or DB once he got here, I just think it's a lil late to move him to CB now.
for this season, yes.
but i think they need to take a long hard look, and decide on him at CB for next year. He could be a really good WR, an above average TB, but I think he has All ACC ability at corner. that's just me.
and by the way, am i the only one that thinks Delaney is out of position and should be moved to strong safety?
He played some Safety but only in the 2nd half of games when his team had a big lead, otherwise he was primarily a QB.
Delaney is a 4th year Senior with experience & he looks lost out there, **** Mike Jack has been here for years & even he looked confused, had blown coverages & missed assignments.
So to expect Deejay to just switch to CB without having taken a single rep at that spot the entire time he's been at Miami is just putting too much on the kid.
And I actually think Delaney might be better off playing Safety if he continues to struggle, having a different look at the field might help him some, because he looks like he's really struggling with understanding his assignments.
then you and i agree, El ... great minds think alike!
These aren't mutually exclusive moves. Whether Delaney stays and starts at corner or moves to safety, it's clear he's not the only problem. The entire first, second and third string rotation at DB is failing expectations. Meanwhile, RB and especially WR seem comparably much better off. Dallas can take someone else's reps or even spot THIS year at DB. And while we have total studs coming in at DB next year, we have the same situation at RB and WR. So if he finds a role in the rotation at DB this year, he's that much more prepared to stay a starter or key contributor next season. That kid was ALL CANE during the recruiting process. We need to get him on the field and let him earn a role.
