More on 2021 class nationally

I may be just an optimistic ******* with a decent education and a variety of life experiences in my early 40s, but something tells me that once you mix the media and cultural market of Miami/Broward /South Florida with the name likeness rights for athletes, some of this mess may flip in our favor. There is at least potential for a university like our canes to take advantage and find creative ways to sell that potential to recruits. Everything I just mentioned has been said on here before, but as time goes on the more I think about it on the ******* the more potential I see. But that could also just be a side effect of relief I put in the bowl. Time will tell

It’s not becoming. It is. Clemson/Bama first couple of volumes were entertaining. It’s at the point where I won’t even watch. And I appreciate them adding OSU, LSU, and Georgia to that, but other than LSU’s lightning in a bottle last year it is Clemson/Bama then OSU/Georgia with Oklahoma then everybody else.
i dont watch that ****

Meh. The way they determine the top 100 players if just look at where they're going for the most part.

People need to stop whining. Alabama has 5 titles since '99, with the best coach and program. After that it's a bunch of schools with 2 (including FSU and UF), and a few with 1. LSU has 3 with a split in '03 (USC got the AP title LSU the BCS). UGA has none. ND has none. FSU and UF have 3 each if you go back to mid-90s. Nebraska won 3 in 4 years in the '90s. There are a few teams at any time that have the program humming and get the talent. Once that was Nebraska and Oklahoma. Once it was FSU and UF.

It always looks rough when other programs are on top. The tech era may have entrenched advantages through camps, twitter and social media and video ... hard to say. Nebraska fell when it's coach retired. UF fell when Meyer left. FSU had Bowden then Jimbo. Jimbo leaves and FSU face-plants and now A&M is on the rise. The only program on the list that has done it under multiple mediocre coaches is LSU. It's probably the true sleeping giant in all of CFB with the talent in that state (football and female).

To quote one of the great philosopher poets of our generation, "how ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm once they've seen Karl Hungus."

The sad thing is, UM has intentionally self-immolated. We hire 5 consecutive head corches who have no business running this program, then act surpriseN that the program can't execute basic plays. Here we are complaining about the talent these other guys recruit (measured by stars, no less!). Then, when someone starts a thread about all our NFL marginal players the past so many years, everyone insists we don't have a talent issue. So which is it? If we don't have a talent issue, why the complaining about UGA recruiting?

Kids getting big pay days matter, but so does coaching. And it doesn’t help that all these schools that are attempting to make a comeback Miami, Michigan, FSU, and UiF, in particular have to compete with those guys for recruits and wins. It’s an almost impossible uphill battle that leads to losses and coaches being fired. Of course these admins making bad hires compounds the issue, but it’s an almost circular argument. Can’t beat them for recruits so you don’t have the talent to win. Recruits don’t come bc you don’t win/pay enough so you don’t get any better. See Belichick and the AFC East for the last 20 years for a similar argument.

Now when it comes to PAC 12 schools And Texas, they are just lost and it’s all on them. They keep most of the elite kids home and still can’t win, while avoiding those big 5 programs.

I think they should expand it to 6 teams just to remove the current headache they've got of a Cinci / UCF et al who go undefeated all year.

Just lock it down though - Power 5 Conference Championship Game winners are in. One at large. Undefeated G5 team gets in over the second ACC / SEC team - sorry, you lost your qualifier by losing your Championship game.
Make it so the G5 team must have a win over another ranked team or perhaps a win over 2 Power 5 schools, not just record based or theyll play even worse schedules.

Kids have been getting paid forever. The money isn't new. You can say it's more, but welcome to inflation. It was always there.

Texas is proof that money isn't enough. They have all the resources in the world, huge state, great talent, bad results. Nick Saban in Texas would do work. But they are upside down. The HS programs run the state. The college acts like a catcher not a pitcher. Bad look.

Yep kids gravitate to elite coaching bc elite coaching wins games and gets you drafted.

The problem is Miami thinks like a rich person but the elite think like a wealthy person.
Rich people throw money at problems, but wealthy people learn how to get more for less.

Why just pay players to win games, that’s too basic. It’s like trying to be politicIan to make change.
Why not own your own conference and let the entire system work for your benefit?

Get out of the All Carolina Conference and go back to the Big East (AAC) as the Big Dog.
Then have all of the rule makers, policy enforcers, officiating crews, digital networks, etc. work for you.

I kinda agree the ACC has been a disaster for UM football, but don't think the issue is Miami throwing money at the problem. Miami throws estrogen at the problem, is the problem.

Meh I don’t like crying about that sh*t, do better..those schools aren’t responsible for us hiring clowns for head coaches the past 20 years..
You talking about crying, but how tf does Miami do better when these schools are able to pay players with no fear of repercussions while Miami stays under the microscope with the ncaa ready to pounce on us at the slightest irregularity? Not to mention, talk about hiring all you want nobody can be FORCED to come here.

Well who couldn't win 5 nattys since 99 when you can hit players off with cars and cash in the open with impunity? I dont get why you guys act like these other schools dropping bags, cars and jobs on recruits and their families means nothing.

I’ll fix it for accuracy:

Of the top 100 players in the 2021 class, 48 are going to be paid to go to one of five programs: Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama and LSU. And there are still more payments for commitments to be made.

So nearly half of the most talented players in high school football will be paid to play at those five programs.

thank you!

we all know what’s going on here.

A huge issue is that college ball isn’t national anymore. Literally no one cares about the pac12. USC needs to get back in a big way. It will make the sport better. Us getting back for the same reason obv. The wealth needs to be spread geographically.

Also we got two of those guys yessir!!!

other schools will have it too. And “large media markets” sound cool at a high level.

but kids don’t care about that. They just want to know how much are they going to get paid.

We’ll see if Dade and broward pony up the cash the same way Bama boosters and Clemson boosters will break players off large $$ and cars just to have a lifesize cardboard print out of them in the dealership or in their KFCs

I never understand this sentiment.

if you took away the ACC money this program is dead for real.

no one on this site has presented any proof that the ACC has done anything to keep Miami down or put Miami at a disadvantage

which doesn’t make sense because a down Miami is bad for the conference.

when they started the ACC champ game it was in Miami they only moved it because we never made it to the **** game.

have you seen the teams we’ve been losing too on a regular basis the last 15 years?

they are basically glorified G5 programs.

If we were in the AAC losing to group of 5 schools, while getting less money than we have now we’d be nothing and our recruting would be terrible.

What does it mean? Plenty of schools do it. Most aren’t that good. Do you think Um didn’t do anything back in the day?
