Gayle Hatch System. Functional strength to produce explosive athletes.
Bring in someone competent.

In a 2005 study (Tricoli), it was determined that Olympic weight lifting was more effective in increasing speed, squat jump performance and counter-movement performance than a vertical jump program. Similarly, in a 2004 study (Hoffman), it was determined that Olympic weight lifting improves vertical jump and 40 speed more than a power lifting program.

Coach Hatch proteges have gone on to coach strength and conditioning at Alabama, LSU, Florida State, Tennessee and more.

Swasey worked under Moffit, the second guy on that list when he was Miami's S&C coach.

I understand. Doesn't mean he's good at it or even employs much of it anymore.
Swasey came in as a speed and agility coach. his background is not in powerlifting. Nor is Goldens.

We need to get a more accomplished strength coach

The strength coach is implementing the program that the HC told him to run.

We sure seemed tough enough against Florida, who is obviously far more physical than Duke is.

The players just gave up. That's why we're seeing this ****, not because we're not strong enough.

Where's the evidence that kids gave up?

Florida drove the ball down our throats just like duke and vag did. We benefitted from turnovers, but still got pushed around on the lines.

The one constant from 2002 until present garbage is Swasey. We don't block, tackle, or finish like we used to. He spends more time with the kids than any coach, think about that.

No, the hc tells him he wants chic to put on 15 pounds, he doesn't tell him how to do it. He doesn't tell him to turn our kids soft, when teams used to fear us

Swasey makes us soft

Oh...they did?

Because I don't remember Florida running on us at all.

They ran the ball 44 times for 122 yards. That's 2.8 yards per carry, and that is outstanding defense. Did they pass the ball on us? Yeah, but we also got turnovers from them passing the ball so much because they suck at passing. The reason Florida, a pretty **** physical team couldn't run the ball on us, is because we were more physical than them.

The team I saw against Florida and the team I saw against Duke are not the same teams. One of them was far more physical, that's my evidence the kids gave up. The scheme didn't change overnight, we haven't seen a change in the scheme the whole **** year.

Our kids are strong enough, and they're physical enough. The problem is that our scheme sucks and the kids know it.

Swasey has to go, end of story.

Could you imagine the uproar from the fans & former players though if Golden let go of Swasey and not D'Onofrio. lol

Ain't nobody had a problem with Swasey after the Florida game. Funny how that works.

Florida's offense is terrible. Absolute filth. And they still racked up 413 yds and 22 first downs.
We had success against their run game because they employ traditional run formations.

This defense does ok against tight OL splits and traditional I-form sets.

It's when teams spread us out that this scheme suffers the most. And everyone runs some form of the spread today (except UF's sorry ***).

D'Onofrio & Golden were taught defensive football back in the 80's and early 90s. Things have changed & they haven't adapted imo.

I'm not disagreeing with you DP. Our scheme sucks, we all know it. Doesn't fit the players.

All I'm saying is that our team strength and physicality is not the problem here.

Swasey is not the problem! as others have posted it is a long season. And after playing **** near 300 snaps in 3 weeks the defense is wore out. Period, The coaches don't trust certain guys and therefore we don't have depth. When coaches would rather play a gassed Jimmy Gaines over Grace and Kirby that's all you need to know. I hope in the future that Golden stops with all the SR favoritism and riding with BUMS until the wheels fall off.

UFluff is just another bit of snake oil sold to us by that shyster Al Tin.

There wasn't anything fluky about what Puke did to us. They rammed it down our throats like Jamitin Winston did to that co-ed last December.

Well played. Best Winston analogy of the season.

Another reason bend don't break is an awful scheme. Defense plays 80+ snaps a game. Bama on average plays around 50-55

The ol swasey is the reason card lol these boys are worn out especially on the defensive line. I'm starting to think y'all believe these kids are machines this board is hilarious

Your posts are getting more absurd by the minute. Now, it's Swasey's fault that we can't stop anyone? You're grasping at straws, fella. Most of the time, the simple answer is the right answer.

who has more rustled Jimmies

Dukies after we slapped the floor in basketball?

or us after Duke destroyed us in football?

Where's the evidence that kids gave up?

The evidence is visual. Just watch the game. If you can't see that we quit, then you're not paying close enough attention.

Puke is a terrible offense with a very weak running game, and they blew us off the ball all day. They're a bad offense, bad running game and they have inferior athletes. Yet they pushed us around like we were schmoes. How many negative or even 1 or 2 yard run plays did they have? Practically none.

This wasn't 1982 Nebraska running the football down our throats. It was **** *** Puke, and Swasey didn't have a goddam thing to do with it.

They're so strong and physical they get their **** pushed in every game.

Blocking, getting a good push on both lines, and tackling are on the strength coach. It's that simple.

Our players were not gassed, they quit on the coaches.

What kind of idiot is gonna throw away a million dollars lowering his draft status just to prove a point to the coaches

Our players aren't that dumb are they?

If I'm Curtis porter I'm playing lights out so I can impress the scouts and make my money in the league. I'm not giving that up even if I think the scheme is ****. C

But maybe you think Curtis porter is an idiot
