I know, I know, insert beating a dead horse icon...

This is an excerpt from an article about Duke's "superior athletes":

Could anything have looked more different in No. 25 Duke’s 48-30 win against then-No. 24 Miami? The Blue Devils entered the fourth quarter with a one-point lead and won the final period 17-0. And it wasn’t some sort of fluke or confluence of lucky plays that allowed them to beat a ranked team and one of the most storied programs in the nation. Duke was the better and more athletic team on the field.

“They couldn’t really handle our tempo. Once we started speeding it up on offense, they were getting gassed,” running back Josh Snead said. “The game is not won in the first quarter. The game is not won in the second quarter. The game is not won in the third quarter. It’s all what happens in the fourth quarter, and we came out in the fourth quarter and we were strong.”

The Blue Devils’ superior athleticism was most evident on the ground, where they finished with 358 rushing yards, led by Snead’s 138. The speed of Snead, Jela Duncan and Shaquille Powell was part of it, but so was Duke’s offensive line, which bullied the Hurricane defensive front and consistently created craters for the backs to burst through.

Ugh

UTough is fine. We're just not trusting the process or laying our bricks down enough. At the end of the day, U Deserve victory if you follow the core values.

Guys it's not Swasey's fault. Ten years of inadequacy under three different staffs when he's the only constant-- can't be him......

It had more to do with Stephen morris not being able to keep drives going. Especially in the second half

The emphasis on free weights and gaining weight should be balanced with muscle stretching stamina - or it will lead to slower muscle reactions. One good thing is the nutritional approach. These guys should be doing a lot more cross training and less trying to lift the most, as witnessed through most of this year - very few of our opponents stood still so we could lift them up. Our training program is based on ancient history, but we have no chariots.

Maybe if our S and C coach had a goddam clue he wouldn't need the direction of the HC. We wouldnt be using an old system if we had FSUs S and C staff. If Swasey isn't fired after all this I give up.

James Coley didn't convert every 3rd down. His fault - we've gotta trust the defense in a game like that, so you punt down 8.

utough isn't the problem. We were wearing down other teams in the 4th quarter earlier in the year. The problem is that our defense can't get off the field and our offense can't stay on it. We've been absolutely demolished in time of possession over the course of the season. These guys on defense have been worn down to a nub at this point. Forget the 4th quarter, we're physically worn down before the game even starts. It's why tackling looks so bad now compared to earlier in the season. That and the fact that these guys have quit.

Gayle Hatch System. Functional strength to produce explosive athletes.
Bring in someone competent.

In a 2005 study (Tricoli), it was determined that Olympic weight lifting was more effective in increasing speed, squat jump performance and counter-movement performance than a vertical jump program. Similarly, in a 2004 study (Hoffman), it was determined that Olympic weight lifting improves vertical jump and 40 speed more than a power lifting program.

Coach Hatch proteges have gone on to coach strength and conditioning at Alabama, LSU, Florida State, Tennessee and more.

Swasey worked under Moffit, the second guy on that list when he was Miami's S&C coach.

We're getting pushed around. We can't tackle.

That's on Swasey.

I don't know what kind of deal with the devil that guy made to be able to stick this long but he needs to be fired and we need a real sc coach

We sure seemed tough enough against Florida, who is obviously far more physical than Duke is.

The players just gave up. That's why we're seeing this ****, not because we're not strong enough.

I understand. Doesn't mean he's good at it or even employs much of it anymore.
Swasey came in as a speed and agility coach. his background is not in powerlifting. Nor is Goldens.

UFluff is just another bit of snake oil sold to us by that shyster Al Tin.

There wasn't anything fluky about what Puke did to us. They rammed it down our throats like Jamitin Winston did to that co-ed last December.

We need to get a more accomplished strength coach
