Mike Harley

There are people pushing him to play in a spread offense but I mean I think he ends up a cane

Just let things play out. His offer just became commitable last Monday. He has a great relationship with dugans & that counts for something. I've said all along he doesn't really impress me. I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks with wvu for the simple fact he's a smart kid & he has to realize he has a very small window to capitalize on here opposed to 4 yrs at wvu. If he comes here & doesn't earn a spot next year he'll end up transferring out. Kids pay attention to different classes.

u are not the first person to say that about him. why arent u impressed?

Personally I think he may have already peaked... not sure how much room his game has for growth & how that translates to this level. Only way I can see myself being wrong is if he really changes up his approach to the game & becomes alot more explosive. Big difference between shifty & explosive.

Agree with you, Dee. It's the very definition of Yearby vs. Cook. And we all see the difference.

Believe it or not that's the exact comparison I think of with him. Remember how shifty Yearby was coming out... I see this as 2.0 I'd love to be wrong as I wish the kid no matter where he ends up at success. I'm just real careful about setting myself up for failure.

Makes sense. Although Harley is very fast, I do question route running and if he's more of a poor man Dorsett.

Yearby has contributed though. I know he isn't elite. I know he got fumbleitis late. He did however contribute here, so I wouldnt call him a
bust . . . just not Dalvin Cook.

Yearby contributed absolutely. I'm not calling him a bust. I'm just thinking with us heading in the direction we want & moving forward is this the kind of player we want while we try to get our depth back up? The sole reason Jeremiah Holloman isn't on our team is because we didn't wanna waste a scholarship on his brother because he's not up to our standard as a player... I mean if the difference is we don't land an elite player like Holloman cause we don't wanna waste a scholarship on someone who wont excell or contribute then why waste one on a kid without the elite player in tow who will simply contribute? there's a big difference between contributing or being a featured player.

and holloman doesnt even realize coley recruited at FSU and Smart at Bama. that brother of his will be gone shortly after they arrive.

That's a great point. Would you rather have AR and a below average player or Berrios - is that how you are looking at it?

Exactly. If signing someone mediocre brings you AR as well than why say no to AR yet still sign the mediocre player? Maybe Harley will be a stud but it's gonna take more than a journey on 34th st.

If you question his route running then that's an area that can be greatly improved with coaching.

As for the parallel with Yearby, Yearby lost some of his quickness and shiftiness when he got bloated up. And Yearby never had that explosiveness or speed even in HS.

I agree that Holloman is not worth 2 ships! As an aside, is anyone ever worth 2 ships? The stud is likely gone in 3 years. The dud keeps the ship for at least 3 years presumably. I think Holloman's brother is walking on btw.

At this moment bc there are so many uncertainties, and our depth concerns, Id take the Yearby equivalent at wideout right now! With the depth issues we have, we will sign more kids, right? So we need to get kids that will contribute. We want stars. We want starters. We need that! We also have to get some role players that we can plug in at times and or contribute on special teams or contribute as a 1/2 teamer a few years from now.

I agree he will be gone, but its because he isn't UGA caliber or P5 caliber

Are we really saying the only reason holloman doesn't sign with us is bc we didn't give his brother a schollie? So, come NLOI, I should expect to see his brother's name on UGA's signee list or are we saying he is walking on to uga when he enrolls?

and after spring practice or fall, whenever the bro arrives, they will start with the "position change" "hes struggling" etc then he will transfer to an FCS school

I know these cross-skin color comparisons are usually not allowed, but when I've watched Harley, he actually reminds me of Cole Beasley, slot WR for Cowboys. We really need a short area guy who can work option routes and help us move the sticks. I thought Berrios would be that guy, but they currently play him outside as if he were Alshon Jeffery.

Why do you think we dont use berrios in the slot more?

Berrios could be. the kid seems a little ****y to me. i mean the way he plays, he drops passes because he tries to be fancy instead of fundamental. i think if he cut that crap out, he could be a contributor. not a stud. not a miami caliber player in my eyes moving forward but richt is stuck what golden left behind for now. Funny thing is kaaya pushed hard for him to get an offer and never throws him the ball lol

My best guess is they were trying to get the best matchups for Coley, who is really good out of the slot, actually. They did some stuff in fall practice where Coley would clear out and guys like Berrios or Njoku would benefit underneath. In real games, starting with FSU, Berrios just could not gain separation on in breaking routes and doesn't have the size to box DBs out like other WRs can. He doesn't have the long speed or the size/separation to play outside.

Sometimes i think our coaches just didn't know our players well enough to start the season. But, Berrios is still playing outside (and caught a long ball against Duke), so they obviously see something there I'm not seeing. Against top teams in meaningful games, I expect him to be consistently overmatched out there. Bring him inside and let him use his toughness.
