**** Miami vs. SMU GAME THREAD ****

Dude youre loving this. Your no fan of the program.
Absolutely inaccurate.

I was the person who said getting rid of almost every member of your last 3 recruiting class is not good.
I was the one who said you just don't grab kids out of the portal and make a return trip to the Final 4.
I was the one who said giving Coach L a contract extension was a bad idea.
I am merely the guys who saw the wheels had fallen off and all I asked was for you to take your foot off the accelerator.
In fairness, when Frank Haith left Miami, the last team he coached was 21-15 overall 6-10 in the ACC.
Coach L ended last season on a 10 game losing streak, grab a bunch of kids out of the portal and put Miami on a path for what looks to be a 20 game losing streak.
I never wanted this to happen.
Sadly, this was inevitable and now a complete rebuild is needed.
This is not a quick fix.

My motivation so far has been that I already paid for it. We'll see how much longer that works. It barely worked today.
I take it all back. The ND and SU wins were fun to watch. It's especially cool to see Ugochukwu, Bethea and Cleveland play confidently. Cleveland is going round 2.

This team still sinks, but it's been nice to see some fight in us of late. After the pathetic showings vs. SMU and Stanford, I was sure we would go winless in the ACC.

We responded with wins over ND and Cuse, and decent efforts against UVA and Lville. Again, a very low bar, but still a nice little development.

If you had your way Miami would have never made the elite 8, let alone the final 4. You have been wrong far, far more than you have been right.

Also, this is a quick fix. There is solid talent on the team if the new coach can keep it… and Miami is now talked about as a legit basketball school because of L’s accomplishments.

Courtney has done a nice job getting them motivated again. It's amazing how much more watchable it is when a team just tries.

That is Fake News!

My concern wasn't with the Elite 8 or Final 4 run, the concern was about playing small ball without being able to go Big, without using depth as an advantage along with being a half court team.

I have not changed my perspective on this not being a quick fix. Largely because if Coach L went to the Final 4 and 8 guys hit the portal before the wheels landed back in Coral Gables then why would you think guys would stay at Miami after this season for an new head coach?

You are thinking that Kentucky and Louisville got new head coaches, got 9 kids from the portal and they are winning in year 1. Sure but my question is, is that sustainable? Can a head coach add 5 or more players from the portal every year and win consistently? I don't know of any college team that has done that.

You cannot live off the transfer portal. At some point, you will have a bunch of pieces that don't fit. Especially now that after this season, the 23+ YO COVID-19 kids are out of eligibility.

To build a team, you still have to use the transfer portal to add to the foundation of the team you have established with kids from the prep ranks who have developed in your program. That how the Elite 8 and Final 4 teams were built.

I want to see Miami win as much as anyone, however, I am smart enough to see when the Titanic is about to sink!

My name is Da Lucky One and I approve this message.
