Miami vs Duke: Manny Diaz speaks on the game Saturday

I dont understand the hate for Manny. Buddy didnt succeed here. But take a number and get in line because alot of coaches didnt succeed here. From what I know, he didnt bad mouth the program on the way out and buddy actually was still recruiting for us when everyone knew we were hiring Mario behind the scenes. I dont root for him and I definitely want to blow Duke out but I dont hate the guy. LOL.

I can only assume people that say this don’t follow recruiting super closely

To say he was still out there recruiting for us is wild. He wasn’t even recruiting when he had a job let alone when he was about to get fired

****tiest recruiter we’ve ever had here imo

I think this game means ALOT more to Mario than Manny. I feel comfortable saying, without any knowledge, Mario probably did not like that Miami hired Manny over him.

I think what Manny did here, probably ****ed of Mario. The “#TheNewMiami”. The dancing on the sidelines. The turnover chain. All that BS while loosing. All of that is the opposite of what Mario believes in as a coach and a Miami alumni.

When he finally got the job, he had to eat a bad first year and a not great second year. Is some of that on him. Sure. But most of that is because of what he inherited. The terrible job manny did at a bringing in talent, developing, and building a culture impacted Mario.

And let’s not act like Mario was a no name head coach. He was doing a really good job at Oregon. If Mario stayed at Oregon, I don’t think he is far off from what Dan Lanning is doing right now. When he got here and had these two years, it really tarnished his image as a coach.

Let’s also not forget. Manny isn’t “Miami”. He went to FSU. It was all a show. I feel good saying, it all ****ed off Mario before he got the job.

So a long story short. I truly think Manny moved on. He was never truly tied to Miami. But I think Mario does have a really sour taste in his mouth from what Manny did here. And I don’t think he hesitates to prove a point that Miami hiring Manny was a mistake and hiring him is the right choice.

He also had 1/3 of the resources as his successor. I am not saying he would have been successful here, but he sure as **** had a different set of standards.

Manny lost to FIU, La Tech, Ga Tech, Duke, Florida. Almost lost to Central Michigan all in the same year. Got embarrassed against UNC and Clemson in 2020. Was corny as **** with the stupid td rings, slip n slide, players dancing on the sidelines while losing, and the turnover chain. Then remember against Bama in 2021? Miami was getting destroyed, then the turnover chain came out and the call got reversed. He was a ******* tool.

So yea any other questions or shall I continue?

I’m not gonna pretend to know for sure how the hiring process went with Manny. But it seems as if Mario didn’t even get a call. You think that **** isn’t personal?

Also, remember when Mario spoke Spanish at his opening press conference? After it was well documented Manny speaks no Spanish. Yea, Saturday will be personal.

That is definitely false that he wasnt recruiting while the Mario ordeal was going on. Maybe you got it confused with Al Golden who we all know wasnt doing a **** thing while the Penn State job was in limbo... But Manny was recruiting and offering kids that offseason and the Recruiting board folks clowned him because he was offering kids that we all knew Mario would veto as soon as he signed the paperwork.

Look im not caping for Manny..but if we are just going to dislike every UM coach that didnt succeed here..that is a very long line..Whos next..Larry Scott? lol.. Its a new day. Too much to be happy about right now. Again not like I wish the guy well..but I dont hate the guy. He was in over his head. He is exactly where he should be. At Duke.

I’m not debating this

I didn’t get anything wrong

Look at that horrific class we had before Mario took over and tell me he was “out there recruiting”

Bull. ****.

If you don’t hate him I don’t really care. You asked and I responded

Not sure why some of y’all hating on this dude so much. He did what he could here. He was not qualified for the job, sure, but be mad at the folks who hired him. Should not be learning on the job at Miami! I loved what he said though. He knows he sucked, but worked his butt off to get better and he is obviously not as a$$cheeks as he was 3 years ago 😂

Lmao everyone knew he was getting fired including recruits and their parents. How TF do you recruit knowing your *** is getting canned ⏸️. It’s not like nick Saban who left a stacked class because he was out recruiting the day before and no one knew he was going to retire.

Yeah and he also was a bad recruiter his entire time he was here. The Covid year where no one could take visits he landed a couple of top recruits but his ****** recruiting is common knowledge

I hate bad recruiting coaches so dude asked why the hatred. Just check his classes that’s all you gotta do

I love how it's ok to hate Golden and Shannon, but not ok to harbor any bad feelings towards Manny. Personally, I don't "hate" any of them as human beings. But yeah, they call all **** off as coaches.

99% of us fans/posters never wanted any of them hired. I understood the Shannon hire, but didn't like it. Known as a disciplinarian, he was brought in to clean up Coker's mess. I guess he actually succeeded in doing that. Kind of gave us a little hope of glimmer here and there that he might have some success on the field, but was just not HC material. Players didn't like him. Terrible personality.

I did not understand the Golden hire and I hated it. Made no sense. Can't blame him for accepting the job. Honestly, I had 0 confidence that he would be successful here. I was actually surprised he wasn't worse. This is also where I have a difference in opinion than most posters on here...That defense was HIS sorry *** defense, not D'Onfrio's. Golden just had his buddy running it. I cannot forgive Golden for that.

The Manny hire was a lazy hire. I didn't like it, but I understood why they made him the offer. Just didn't need to offer him that quick. Manny was actually the most disappointing out of the 3. I actually had some expectations for him and thought he would have some success here. He's a hard worker, good football IQ, makes changes when it comes to coordinators etc...He just can't get out of his own way. Focuses on the wrong things and not the little details. He's basically a less creepy version of Mike Norvell and his recruiting was the worst out of all 3.

Manny MIGHT have been out there "recruiting", but to what effect?

IIrc our class had dropped to something like.. 60th in Manny's last few weeks. That's why everyone was praising Mario for what he did in such a short period of time.

I’m wondering how many fans defending Manny also mentioned things about Mario fixing the culture here?

Do we dare?
