Miami vs Duke: I’m ready for Cam to throw 10 times on Saturday

Manny says “he’s a different coach now”. Well I want to see… everything tells me we can absolutely abuse them with the inside run game and I’m looking forward to seeing that.

I expect Cam’s first half numbers to be on the lower side because we’ll be run heavy
While we all want Cam to win the Heisman, what Cam wants, and what we all should want, if to be able to beat anyone we play. If that means running 50 times, we do it.

I am not one to predict outcomes of games, but its hard for me to picture Miami turning the ball over 5-6 times like SMU did. A powerful offense like Miami would have converted most if not all those TO's into points, which as some of you have said says a lot about Duke's offense.

I hear the former mayor of Miami's son say he is a different coach. We'll see on Saturday I guess.

This is the quintessential Manny defense.

#9 in the country in TFLs per game but only 44th in sacks per game
#9 in passer rating allowed
#6 in yards per attempt allowed
#18 in completion percentage allowed
#98 in rushing yards per game allowed
#71 in yards per carry allowed, even though you're getting all those TFLs and some sacks

It's Manny to a T. Havoc plays, get you behind the sticks on 3rd down, play on your side of the LOS, but get out leveraged in the run game and give up a lot of yards.

Also, let's not forget, feast on really ****** QBs. Duke has played Elon, Northwestern, UConn, Middle Tennessee State, UNC, GT, FSU, and SMU. Against GT and SMU, the only 2 decent passers they've seen, first of all they lost both games, secondly those were the 2 worst games they've had this year in terms of passer rating allowed.

Additionally, here are the Running Back totals they've allowed:

Northwestern (Porter) - 16 for 94 and 2 TDs
UConn (Edwards) - 10 for 106 and 1 TD
Middle Tennessee State (Credle) - 12 for 125 and 1 TD
UNC (Hampton) - 29 for 103 (Good job on him, he's a stud)
Georgia Tech (Haynes) - 19 for 128
FSU (Davis) - 14 for 63
SMU (Brashard Smiff) - 26 for 117

Fletcher and Martinez are both going over 100 in this game. And they haven't seen a passing attack anywhere close to Cam Ward and our receivers. IMO we approach 500 yard again on Saturday. 200+ on the ground and 250+ in the air, and we score 40+.
I lol'd listening to the slapdicks (Roddy Jones and Wes Durham) on the ACC network chuckle at the 54.5 pt total. "hohoho take the under" -> "yea man not. even. close." Looking forward to the commentary on Monday. I think the only way Duke can keep it respectable is if they try and play us super conservative like the Noles, just take their beating and try not to get knocked out. I think Manny has too much ego to play it that way.

Dawson, Cam, and the gang gonna hang another easy 50 on Duke if they play straight up and try to win. Their offense is worse than FSU so they may luck into a TD or two. Maybe they manage to kick a FG against us.

I got it 48-10

I honestly dont think Manny has it in him to make a change like that.
you’re probably right. I would guess, though that every team we play from here on out, will look at that FSU film and be tempted to try to do the same thing though there’s enough proof that Cam can kill you if you let him so they’ll likely take their chances with our running game.

I think or OL and DL are going to be hyped up for this game to make a statement

"Duke has all these TFL" and "Our DLine is getting pressure but just seem a step late"

1-0 again and make another statement on how they dont need 400 from Cam all the time.

A nice 275 with 2TD's maybe run one in too and a W. Keep plugging along.

The problem with that is then you reduce your own opportunities to impact the game on offense. That philosophy is designed to slow your own bleeding not win the game. If you don't score on your own possessions, you look up and its 17-0 and its half time. Make a mistake on offense and it is 24-0 and the game is over. The point of the scheme is to make Miami take 5+ minutes to score and hope you can stop them once they get to the redzone and the field shrinks. Puts a lot of pressure on your offense to score. Other teams with more explosive offenses may want to try it. However a team with no offense at all is really gambling playing that way.

I was at a wedding on Saturday. Saw the game plan FSU installed. When we went up 17-7, I stopped checking the score. I knew FSU wasn’t scoring 11 more points and us not scoring again.

Playing that way requires your offense to be 100% effective. I’d rather take my chances in a shootout against us. Ward can’t throw ints when his RBs are getting 6-8 yards a pop. Plus our K is probably the best in the country. Condense the game, make us kick FGs, **** if we get 8 possessions, probably still looking at a minimum of 24 points. Still not an effective route.

No way. Especially after last game they coming out throwing. They running heisman campaigns for cam and all. Can’t win the heisman handing the ball off

They are relatively the same as fspoo but with much different emotion. They’re having a good season record wise and first year with new coach. Fspoo is having a horrid year with a weird coach in his 5th season.

I think this will be our most complete game. I think we make a large statement.

I said this in another thread, but I truly believe this game means a lot to Mario, more than Manny.

I truly think Manny moved on. He was never truly tied to Miami. But I think Mario does have a really sour taste in his mouth from what Manny did here. All the gimmicks, taking over a terrible roster and culture. And I don’t think Mario hesitates to prove a point that Miami hiring Manny was a mistake and hiring him is the right choice.

I agree the rushing yards will be there, but the #He1sman race dictates Cam has to put up big numbers, so I expect that to happen.
Cam should be focused on the same thing that Miami should be focused on ------ winning. His big payday is coming from the NFL obviously. Where he gets drafted will be a function of a team's view on how well he plays, including taking what the D gives you and not forcing any part of the offense. The NFL couldn't give a crap if you won the Heisman.
