Tez McCray, Antonio Dixon, Dwayne Hendricks, Joe Joseph, Lugman Abdullah, Josh Holmes, Chaz Washington, Chris Perry, Marcus Forston, Jeremy Lewis, Curtis Porter, Luther Robinson, Tavadis Glenn, Darius Smith, Olsen Pierre, Corey King, Jacoby Briscoe, Dequan Ivery, Micanor Regis. These are the defensive tackles brought in since Butch left. Not one all-star among this bunch. If McCray was 3 inches taller, he would have been a force. A total 10+ year epic fail of talent evaluation and coaching.


Andrew Bain, Cyrim Wimbs, Jon Rochford, Derrick Morse, Tyrone Byrd, Tyler McMeans, Chris Ruteledge, Jon St. Pierre, Chris Barney, Matt Pipho, AJ Trump, Reggie Youngblood, Joel Figueroa, Orlando Franklin, Ian Symonette, Harland Gunn, Tyler Horn, Ben Jones, Brandon Washington, Malcome Bunche, Jared Wheeler, Jermaine Johnson, Jermaine Barton, Brandon Linder, Jon Feliciano, Shane McDermott, Seantrel Henderson, Taylor Gadbois, Danny Isidora, Ereck Flowers, Alex Gall, Sunny Odogwu, Hunter Knighton. These are the o-line we have brought in since Butch left. A few good ones among the bunch, but the success rate is awful. Again, epic 10+year fail. Poor coaching and talent evaluation.


We need a master talent evaluator, as well as a position coach that knows what he is doing. Look what North Carolina did while Butch was there. Multiple 1st round picks on defense, and the offensive line. Until we can get Dline and Oline help, we are in for another 10+ years of mediocrity. Skill players grow on trees around south florida, and we have never had a problem finding good ones. But we all know football is won in the trenches.
 
So what was the constant - 4-3 with SoFl athletes?

Since we've moved to the 3-4 hybrid we've been ****.

Able porstin' around here talking about top 30 like that's a ******* accomplishment for Miami.
 
If we were still running our old style of defense...

SDE - Chickillo, Green, Hamilton?
DT - Porter, Wenfrow, Hamilton
DT - Pierre, Robinson, Chickillo
WDE - McCord, AQM, Cain, Hoillett

LB - Perryman, Grace
LB - Gaines, Kirby
LB - Figs, Armbrister

CB - Howard, Crawford
CB - Gunter, Burns
SS - Jenkins, Rodgers
FS - Bush

I'm probably forgetting a couple guys but you can't tell me that defense wouldn't be atleast as good as our worst defense from the past regime. I'd roll with that all day.
 
Its amazing that 2007 defense was 35th. we had kirby freeman starting. Shannon teams had no cohesion. we were first in the ACC in defense and 2nd in offense his last year.

Can I get a similar chart for scoring defense or maybe just add another series to that chart?

I'd be interested to see those numbers also.
 
What's crazy is, I remember us *****ing and moaning about some of those top-30 defenses. Now we can only wish our defense was that "bad".

who is as good as C. Cambell, or Spence, or C.Mac,...Harris was a solid DB here, S, Shields we all know that story...

who on these last 3 years has made an impact in the NFL on Defense...and who do see leaving this year that teams are drooling over ? Porter, our best Dl..who has done nothing,

now next year..tracey, bush, Mccord a few others will be nfl guys...but not now...

we are weak as **** still.

I remember like it was yesterday. Shannon's defenses had zero solution for drags across the middle, TE in the flats and running quarterbacks.

Remember? Opposing TEs had field days against us and likewise, mediocre qbs had career days against us.

I thought the 2nd DC under Shannon was good. (his name slips my mind, Tubberville recommended him)
Shannon's problem was hiring Nix. That destroyed his career.
The same way D'Onofrio is going to destroy Goldens.
