Miami lands premier WR Hightower

4.54 which by the way is just as fast as all those recievers you just definitively said he was slower than when they were his age.

so he ran a 4.54 at The Opening and chose to scratch it? why?

Because it's not an official time regardless & most kids don't share those unless they post something they weren't expecting. You're only scratching it to the public by the way. Not sure if you knew that or not.

I have zero clue, its why im asking...

4.54 seems impressive for a kid his size, just don't get why he's choose to have it scratched.

No pressure. Just explaining. Far as why he scratched it pretty sure I covered that. Only other way to explain it is my nephew is very hard on himself. We are all VERY competitive & especially in his case he dances to the beat of his own drum. He's a very special kid. Operative being kid. Not many of them are logical.

good, that's a quality they cant measure at these events and its the main factor in whether they fail or succeed.

Didn't know he was 16 too. Him and Lingard... wow!

If Brooklyndee says 6-3¾, that's good enough for me.

As a fan, I got exactly what I wanted, a big, fast physical receiver that's young with tons of upside.

Next time I check his measurements will be in 20fūcking18 when he plays his first game for us as a freshman. Otherwise, all that's needed is for him to focus on his high school academics and athletics and stay on that path. Period.

Stick to **** you know instead of guessing. They give each kid the option of how they measure them & weigh them. As I've said before these events except like the opening itself are all drastically understaffed & unorganized. They have a minimal amount of staff to handle tons of kids. They simply try to push through it as quickly as possible. Details sortve get lost in the rush. But hey feel free to take buddy here's word for it.

The **** I know I know...you know why. Bc I have actually coached at 4 different Opening Regional events.

Run your trap and your game to the rest that care to suck you off.

He's 6'2, get the **** over it.

I'm glad your coaching covers protocol. Apparently it doesn't cover you being a hypocrite. You state with certainty hes 6'2 (even though I just took him to the doctors three days ago) because you know how protocol is at all events. Yet the 40 time they posted from the year before as a 14 year old was a 4.61 but you won't accept that (obviously you didn't know it but I'll provide the excuse) and u didn't even have to suck me off. By the way mentally that speaks volumes when the first insult you think up to throw at people implies ****s & lips... #justsayin

Why are you mad about this? it's not even that big of a deal.

and you've conveniently taken him to the doctors 3 days ago? He ran a 4.61 that was posted but ran a faster time this year that he had scratched.

Ok man.

Thank you for getting him to the U.

My gawd!

I'm mad about this not so much cause of you specifically but all those who would like to bash(in any way) a very innocent 16 year old. I'm very protective of all of my family & I find it pathetic how people that should be ecstatic on here try & speak with certainty questioning things about him. I already explained his stance in another thread towards any results posted yet still you push on. To question having to conveniently (nothing convenient about the doctors by the way especially when his insurance is in cali)take him to the doctors is sad bruh. Maybe I try to hard to defend him but none of us have to prove anything to a bunch of supposed fans on a message board. That's simply not relevant. To make this even better for you he went to the doctors cause his bones in his legs were hurting. Doctors prognosis growing pains... as I said he is 16 years old. A healthy strong GROWING boy...

I can respect that but I am with you man..not against you!

You're supposed to go hard for your fam. It's all good.

The vast majority of us are ecstatic that he's a Cane. A few people always want to find fault. Some of these posters aren't even Canes' fans.

What I like best about him is how tenacious he is. It looks like when the ball is in the air, no one is taking that ball from him! That was my favorite quality of the great Michael Irvin.

The focus is solely on Mark Pope and Xavier Williams now to round out the receiver class. Outside chance with Thompson, but Austin and Moore are backup plans at this moment.

4 is still the expected number at receiver.

Thompson is a backup plan too. People just refuse to listen. The priorities are Pope & Xavier. However Xavier has been told he needs to atleast decommit soon to show us he's serious. My understanding is he has till paradise before we move forward with Austin & Joshua moore & Thompson. I don't know though if by paradise he means a commit by paradise or not.

I can't recall the last staff that put the screws to recruits this early in the process (not even talking about a commitment - just decommitting from a different school! lol).

Brooklyndee: Is he shutting his recruitment completely down like Lo? Will he reject calls from other schools from now on?
Sorry if you posted this and I missed it.

Something tells me we have NOTHING to worry about here...

I've been compiling verified heights and weights for my South Florida lists and they vary quite a bit. A few kids shrunk from the 2016 Opening to the 2017 Opening.

My guess is that the numbers are fairly accurate but there isn't a lot of quality control going on.

Very PC way of saying the Nike regional open numbers are not to be relied upon completely. Interesting.

We are probably the only fan base who crown kids we think we have little to no shot with and then promptly criticize the **** out of them as soon as they commit, it happened with Lingard, it's happening with Hightower, it's pretty crazy...

Bottom line is that he is an elite WR prospect. The kid has more than enough speed in my opinion. He made fools of all those defensive backs who tried to cover him in Orlando. At the end of the day I want players who make plays, this is that type of player.

Yeah, he is not as fast as Jeff Thomas or Richards, but we already have those dudes. What we don't have is a guy like Hightower.

And how are you all going to get mad at brooklyndee for defending his nephew, it's natural.

No one's criticizing the **** out of anyone here. Some of us wondered how fast Hightower is because his speed doesn't jump out. Then he scratched his 40, which is not something you usually see from a guy running a great 4.54.

I love having him in the fold, and the fact he's only 16 is awesome.

Y'all would have b*tch and moaned if a top target would have went elsewhere but when they come here y'all still scrutinized the **** out of them stfu... he's not going to run the fastest 40 he's a big physical receiver in the mold of like Pete said today a treadwell type of receiver. And lol at saying he scratched his 40 like that means something... mark pope scratched his 40 is he slow? Y'all got to stop hanging on these posters nuts with these dumb logic takes that make on here

Compare Hightown to Aldarius Johnson as a prospect. They look similar on film to me.

The problem with Aldarius is that he was about as lazy as your comparison.

With that said, Aldarius was an ELITE high school WR. My guess is he didn't put in the work to continue progressing. He seemed to lose speed in college and added bad weight--I remember him having a gut at UM.

In the same way we can compare Hightower to Aldarius, we can also compare him to Mike Williams (Clemson) or Devante Parker. All very similar skillsets and WR types. All (including Aldarius) are super talented. The level of success depends on a lot of things.

disagree, Williams and Parker have speed that Hightower and Aldarius don't posses. Wish Hightower was easily separating from DBs in his film, but it aint the case. He is good at making contested catches though.....
I dont. Aldarius was my favorite recruit and i watched tons of film of him. He was a beast. Even his freshman year here he was pretty good. His problems was he thought he was going to be the man and it was just destiny. He never busted **** he just went through motions until his senior year and then it was too late. He was in the dog house with others as well. There are many reasons kids make it. Speed is a small factor to separation. If you've played WR or DB you know that. There is a reason they do the shuttle as well. Getting in and out of your breaks are good and acceleration are two skill sets that are more important then a 40 or anything like that. Fritzgerald is slow as dirt but a **** of a receiver.
