Way too many South Fla parents of athletes that have a hatred of Miami not only as a program, but just as a culture & city.

These South Fla kids are brainwashed as lil jits that every other school is better than Miami... It would be a shock to people how much locals down here push their kids to FSU, UF, Bama & elsewhere... It's ****in disgraceful.

Which is why Richt spent the entire season going to little league ball trying to revive the idea of youngstas coming to Miami as dream school.

We have to literally reprogram these kids & their parents to stop hating Miami so much.

I'm hoping my shorty is a kid genius. Energies will be focused on academics, sports for fitness. I boxed but he's in Karate for now but we doing grappling soon. Either way, academics is the push. Sports is just fitness, fighting and fun. We gotta stop pushing our young men into games IMO. The real power is in academics. Don't raise no either tho, teach them how to get hit early and they'll never be scared to fight.

Not sure what exposure that kid had/has to leave the area/state, but that's not bad parenting at all.

A parent's job is to make sure their child gets exposure, and to be the best person they can be. For some kids, that exposure may only come from leaving the next and having a shot at going to college out of state.

IMO, a Miami area parent sending their child to FSU or Florida is much worse than sending them to Ohio State, Bama, UGA, Clemson, Texas, or Notre Dame. Even though I don't want those programs to beat my Canes, I understand that those situations may be for the greater good of that kid's development as a person.

And I can't hate on that.

Since I'm not from or out there, when did this hatred begin? Was it local kids complaining about the program in our lean years? Like how did this hatred and disrespect begin??

I can remember watching practice 40 years ago of my old HS team almost every day, they were always at the top in the North East and sometimes at the top for 2-3 years in a row. Ranked in the top 25 quite a bit. The coach was there for 40 years or so, they use to do 2 on 1's in the rain or snow. Two big linemen 275 to over 300 would take on a running back at about 175 to 200. They would absolutely kill him. Sometimes it would be 2 or 3 times in a row, those kids were tough as **** by the end of the season. Well I went back to a practice a couple years back, the son of the coach took over. No 2 on 1's no practices even close to the abuse the kids years before took.

He came over to me because I had a Miami hat and shirt on, thought I was a scout. I asked him what happened to the practices like your dad had, these kids are all soft. He said the parents couldn't take their kids taking that kind of abuse anymore. They rarely win titles now, very sad. The old man was the best HS practice coach I have ever seen. Games were easy compared to his practices, he was frigon brutal, the weak quit right away. This generation of kids and their parents are soft compared to back then, better athletes but soft as ****.
