Confirmed Miami (hires) Minnesota Corey Hetherman as DC

Just watched Josh Pate, he said that the thing he is mostly looking at is how Hetherman adjusts to calling a defense for a high uptempo offense that we will run. He said that hes used to slow tempo offenses that burn clock and that miami is a whole new world in regards to putting pressure on the defense if we end up having quick offensive drives. He also pointed to Jeff lebby and how he did the same thing and hired a DC who is used to slow tempo offensive teams and ended up failing.
Wasn't Cignetti's offense at JMU pretty fast paced?

After this , I let reality of it all come to light and you may be right on JT .

After watching the performance of Bain deterioration as the season went on and did nothing about his play along with the DE unit was a failure.
If it wasn’t that JT being a HOF and attacking elite DE he would be gone.

We definitely cannot take his DE recruiting away from JT it’s proven no doubt.

But as far as coaching not good our new DC again will recognize JT coaching is not up to par with his recruiting.

But we’re also blind to this on the field.
JT style of coaching was not what you saw under Guirdy. Why is it so hard for posters to understand this.

Taylor and Nicholson are both good young coaches that can recruit that I would also be ok giving another year in a new scheme. Definitely need an overhaul in the defensive backfield to align with all of the new personnel coming in.

Then what is his coaching style and how was it impeded? We get it, Guidry ran a lot of stunts but that wasn't the only issue.

According to people in the know here, JT was frustrated because Guidry did not let the DL play like the DL coach wanted to.

So I agree with the disappointment about the DL play but if this is true he definitely needs another chance.

Hetherman should get final say on that entire side of the ball. If he interviews JT and keeps him, fine, but nobody from the defensive staff should be feeling safe right now.

I think the differential is in the personnel, not the coach.

If Hetherman has high-end SoFla types that have stamina, and he can rotate in DLs and such, he will be fine. Yes, he probably needs a slower tempo at Minnesota with Minnesota talent. But to argue that a COACH will fail due to tempo issues ignores the fact that he relies upon his roster, not his brain, to handle the tempo.

@rok

Do we know if Barrow has given Hetherman any advice on dealing with living in Miami?
Barrow finally snapped at the end after enduring months of heat and humidity and tried to beat up Lightfoot. There's not telling how a real life leprechaun will fare down here but I expect he'll coach from inside the IPF mostly.
