Miami - Gata position group comparison

We should beat everyone in the coastal period. I get what your saying but our sched is weak af

I get what he’s saying but I get what you are saying too. You’re basically saying that given that this is our 1st game, that it’s against the gaytors and that it is in Orlando, that it looks like our biggest challenge of the regular season so if we beat the gaytors, we will improve and with that being our toughest game, we could run the table hypothetically. Of course anything can happen and we can lose to almost anyone with a bad outing or injuries but we start with the toughest game.

I don’t think these kind of comparisons are particularly helpful. I think position matchups matter a lot more. Here is my take:

Miami OL v. UF DL: UF. Our line struggled all last year and I don’t see them having much success. Hopefully I am wrong but it’s been awhile since we fielded a group that controls the line.

Miami QB/WRs v. UF DBs: Slight edge to Miami. The QB play is the big question mark obviously. If we can get the ball to our guys in space, they will carve up some big plays. Hopefully they maximize JT’s potential.

Miami RB/TEs v. UF LBs: Miami. They don’t have the personnel to match up with Jordan and Mallory. Our running backs are talented but their success largely depends on the success of the OL.

UF OL v. Miami DL: Miami. If our interior lineman can holdup, our defense will give us an opportunity to win the game. The talent, experience, and skill at DE is just ridiculous.

UF QB/WRs v. Miami DBs: UF. I don’t think much of Franks but he has experience winning some big games and the WR corp has been productive. I like the talent in our secondary but I think we will feel the loss of Johnson, Redwine, and MJ out there on the first game of the season.

UF RB/TEs v. Miami LBs: Miami. We have one of the best LB corps in the country and the DL should give them space to make plays.

Miami ST v. UF ST: I don’t know much about UF’s ST but I give them they edge. Hopefully the Aussie comes in big time for us.

Diaz v. Mullen: Mullen. As a head coach, we just don’t know what we are getting with Diaz yet. I have been fooled one too many times on our head coaching hires. Mullen has a lot more experience and has the clear advantage in this game. Diaz’s only advantage is the lack of film on the offense, and hopefully he capitalizes on it.

Who wins?

Osborn may have been that guy in THAT conference, but At this point Osborne and Payton has pretty much played against the same level of competition. Not really... but you get the point. But again, I’m all about our WR, but you have to be realistic. 3 of UF receivers are already looked at as top 25 WR in the country and they have good unproven WR as well. It is what it is.
