It's simple common sense that's all. Anyone that's played team sports understands the way teams get better is cohesion the way you achieve cohesion is more time together It's just simple logic. That's why I keep explaining to yall over and over and over and over again, The portal is not what we're trying to do. it is something we go to out of desperation. Fans obviously would love to see us in the portal for 22 starters each and every year. However that's not what we're striving for. We want kids that have multiple years together. Because that is the only way we will truly ever win s***. This one year thing it's not a good strategy long-term.

Flo’s had some good hits tho.. I think he called Justin Scott last year when no else really shared the intel

He did, he said someone was coming and it was somebody big that nobody expected. They were just waiting for the papers to go thru before they made it official. A few days later or maybe even the next day it was Justin Scott

Ryan Rodriquez being out for the whole season doesn't help. That only leaves the true freshman Nico. Not getting Connor Lew set us back a few years at that position

Flo believes Cooper and Horton are coming back next year. He is worried of the current LB room, if Pruitt can add 20 pounds he will be a problem.

I agree with those needs. but think it’ll be 12-15 portal transfers in the winter and spring

I don’t understand why we would shy away from the portal, literally every top school uses it. Mario always says talent acquisition is the main thing so as long as talent that can help us is entering the portal we should be on it

Of course high school will always be the key to long term success but the elites recruit both at an elite level

#1 The elites don't regularly use the portal at an elite level at all... #2 It's not an issue of using the portal or not. You'll always use the portal simply out of necessity. But everyone needs to make a choice one or the other. Are you going to rely on high school recruiting and put your brand behind development. Where are you going to regularly do like Dion and go get everyone's pieces out of the portal. We aren't ever going to be the school that relies on the portal is the point We have been made our choice to go after high school recruits at a high level to put our money into high school recruits. The portal never know what you're getting into.

We're not trying to be another Mike norvell in the ***** holes another school that puts all of their chips into the portal and then has Mrs for whatever reason and they end up looking like this one and nine top 10 preseason one and nine week 10 sometimes we just have to pay attention and learn from the things you see going on around the country

What top program doesn’t use the portal regularly at this point? There’s way more that do that dont. Lets look at the top 10

Oregon. Osu. Texas. Penn state.Tennessee. Notre Dame. Bama before and after saban left. Ole miss. Georgia. Michigan…There’s more but yea all of those teams got a bunch from the portal

Maybe the negative connotation with it is because yall attach it to deion and norvell, its many other examples to look at so why focus on the those two rather than the top programs?

Nobody is saying get your entire roster out of the portal but it’s shouldn’t be looked at as an either or. It falls under the talent acquisition umbrella so looking at the portal and hs recruiting as a either or is wrong

Most of those teams i named also have also had elite hs recruiting classes for years and they still attack the portal. Its clear the blueprint today is there should be money and efforts spent on both if we are truly trying to be an elite program again.

I agree for the most part. It should be used to supplement any holes or needs due to injuries, misses, transfers, etc. So many variables in play with this. While Dabo is extreme, he does have some good points regarding the portal. Its much better for your program to have a majority of kids who wanted to come play for you and the school before they realized how much of a business college sports are. Its much easier to recruit high school kids when opposing coaches aren't telling them and their parents you aren't going to just bring in portal kids to take their jobs every year. And when things don't go great, portal kids are the first ones to cash in their chips and shut it down. See fsu this year. Yikes.com

I guess it depends on what kinda program we except to be. Clemson is a tier 2 or 3 level program now that will be good but never really contend at the highest level anymore unless dabo adjusts to todays formula. If we want to be that then yea portal doesn’t need to be much of a focus, if we want to win championships again then portal and hs should both be big priorities

Mario is Stuck bringing in an entire side of the ball # of portal pickups a off season until he learns to recruit with balance and not just throwing a dart on the wall and saying that’s the position I’m going all in on!

Through 2026 I don’t see anyway we’re not taking double digit portal guys every year. Maybe 27 or 28 we don’t because I think the 26 class has potential to be special

Flo is taking credit for being lucky.

Go back and watch what he predicted. He predicted a big fish that folks wouldn’t be as excited for because his rankings didn’t match his status. He was predicting someone else.
