Miami finishes #18 in final AP Poll

View as article
Tall task on road against #1 passing offense in America when your secondary may just be the worst in the league, and even then it took your star WR to fumble game away late.
I’d say spotting the best QB in college football a 21 point lead should be good enough

Actually wait

Why the **** are we still even talking about this

That’s not what I was saying - I didn’t say I wasn’t embarrassed about losing to them because of the 90s team. I said they had an amazing offense this year, it was a terrible matchup for us, and people need to stop focusing on CFB brands instead of who teams really are. GT stormed the field after beating us this year, but that’s really not uncommon for them to do, is it? But we’re Miami, so they did.

And our schedule wasn’t thought to be anything special prior to the season either. This was also something discussed ad nauseam in the spring.

Again, u r correct; no one thought the schedule would be anything special which is y many yelled ACCCG or bust, or 10+ wins or bust.

My point is no one thought it was going to be this bad where FSU was a bottom feeder, UL would take a step back, & UF would remain mediocre. Furthermore, no one is mad that we lost to Syracuse, we’re mad b/c we had a 21 point lead w/ the ACCCG in our own hands. I feel like if ur attempt to rationalize this season, u continue to gloss over that fact. It wasn’t a terrible match up when we rushed up to a 21-0 lead; and if recall, CIS laughed their asses off when Cuse got “noodle arm” McCord.

You can't? Syracuse won 10 games, and had #1 passing offense in AMERICA, their strength was our weakness. If we played them 10 times, not sure we win 6, maybe.

We hit our over on win total, so if you say season was a failure, I would argue it wasn't. We had #1 offense, had a Heisman finalist, won 10 games, beat our rivals, and were the most watched ACC team this season. It parlayed us into signing the best class in ACC, and best portal class in the league again, and we should be preseason 10-14 for next season, and be in the playoff mix again.
We hit our win total that was projected when people were projecting cam ward as a third round QB. He turned out to be not just a Heisman finalist but the best QB in the country. If he was the QB that most were projecting we would have went 7-5 this year.

We also lost 2 games in which we were favored by close to double digits. In November. With the playoffs on the line.

At this point, with the 12 team playoff and the way Miami is investing, any year we don't make the playoffs is a failure.

We won 10 games and finished ranked for the 1st time in 7 years, you won't like to hear it but thats success for Miami RIGHT NOW, only the 2nd time we have had 10 wins and finished ranked since 2003.

However in TrumpyCane's opinion that all gets thrown out the window if we don't make the playoffs next year and pull a 2018, 2010, 2014 season. Zero excuses for Mario, 99.9% his own roster, brought in a lot of good players in the portal, etc

I am not rationalizing - I am realistic and can look at things objectively. You continue to prove my main thesis here, which is that people need to stop making predictions/judgments on teams based on brands and media PR. If you pay attention, the data is all there.

No, FSU was not expected to only win two games, but they were expected to take a big step back. There’s a reason they lost 63-3 in the bowl game against UGA last year. Norvell didn’t reload. Anyone who knew anything about UF said they were going to be mediocre and not because of their schedule, but because of their lack of talent at key positions and atrocious coaching. Louisville was expected to be a tough matchup for us because of their offense and our ****** defense, and they were. (Their final ranking didn’t really matter.) Same with Syracuse. Same with Cal, VT, USF, GT, and everyone else. Not a single game surprised me, because I don’t get caught up in the emotions and I stay objective.

In the end, I’m just not going to get my panties in a bunch about something that didn’t surprise me because I looked at the data and predicted it beforehand. And I choose to focus on the positives instead.
