Miami defense ranking in the ACC

LULZ at Golden's 500 Club rushing in to scold UM fans for thinking we shouldn't be last in the **** *** ACC in defense or thinking that we have better talent than a Pitt team that doesn't recruit from the same talent pool that UM does. Ask Paul Chryst if he'd rather recruit at Pitt or at UM.

Paul Chryst wouldnt trade our whole defense for Aaron Donald. As a sophomore at DE, he had 11 sacks and 16 TFL. His first year at DT, he had 5.5 sacks and 18.5 TFL. This year he has 10 sacks and 26 TFL and 4 FF in 11 games. He has 56% of the teams sacks, 38% of TFLs, and 40% of the FF. He gets so much attention from opposing offenses because the rest of Pitt's defense is awful, yet he still makes plays. He's 6ft and 280 with extremely long arms and would absolutely dominate as a 3-4 end in Miami's defense.

3-4 defensive ends must be true two-way players, typically 280 pounds or more. Their prime responsibility is to stop the run, but they must also have the ability to beat offensive tackles and sack the quarterback.

If we had just this one player, Miami's defense would be so much better.

One dumb post after another from the UM football offices. Stopped reading after that first dumb sentence.

I dont even know why I'm bothering to respond.

Aaron Donald has the same amount of sacks as Chick, Green, AQM, Pierre, Porter, Renfrow and Gilbert together. The same amount of TFL as Chick, Green, Porter, Kamalu, AQM, Renfrow, Robinson and Gilbert together.
He will probably be a 1st round pick. Hes better than anyone on our defense by far.

So no response of any substance?

How do you compare talent then? I gave you the best metric we have at the moment.

Recruiting rankings aren't perfect but as the draft shows every year they are a decent representation of success at the college level. Once that talent is in the college system it is up to the coaches to develop and put those players in the best place to succeed.

I'm not a bash coaches type of guy but anyone who thinks we are getting the best out of our defensive players right now is crazy or delusional.

its gotta be hard to sell this scheme, and not very hard to recruit against...did pitts d have better star recruits the last few years?

One player having that much more production than our entire defensive line is an indictment on our scheme as much, if not more than it is on our personel. You can't tell me those players combined are so bad that they're getting out-produced by a single DT for Pitt. Our players our repeatedly asked to do things they can't physically do, and it shows in their production.

Where have you been for the last 3 years? They are not allowed to get upfield on 1st and 2nd downs. They are told to hold the line, then shed the block and get into the backfield. Remember Luther Robinson was flashing into the backfield and getting multiple TFL in that one game? I though we finally had a PLAYER along the D line, only for him to be reprimanded for not playing pattycake and benched the next week. :ohlord:

This guy has no clue, Shariff Floyd couldn't 2 gap while he was at FL. Put Aaron Donald in this defense and he sucks ***. I bet this guy would probably argue AD has more talent than SF...smmfh
