Is this applying to baseball as well? There has always been a ton of JC baseball movement. Will this change baseball recruiting, especially the recruitment of Freshmen?
It should based on the article's use of athletes. We've come a long way from the NCAA dinging Tommy Giles' last year of eligibility over a year of flight school.

It's probably not as impactful as it would have been a few years ago with the portal diminishing JUCO's importance, but might be a nice option knowing you wouldn't lose eligibility assuming the change becomes permanent.

Yes, this will 100% change the ways HS kids are recruited, Mid majors and lower levels will likely not recruit HS kids anymore imo. I think it will benefit us for sure since the some of the best Juco's are in the state of Florida

It’s unclear whether it will rollover to baseball, but if it does I see a complete reshape of the recruiting landscape. For example, I could see many “elite high schoolers” opting to graduate early and enroll juco since it won’t affect eligibility

I also think you are living in an alternative reality truthfully brother. My perspective may be difference since i've never seen any Miami program win a title with my own eyes. But the baseball teams deals with so many disadvantages. Our last head coach was a Billionaire and we decided what he was doing wasn't good enough.. which is Ludacris. Now we're complaining about NIL when we ran off our HC who didn't even need the job.

This is not the 1980s where Neal Heaton decided to not sign as the #1 overall pick and come to Miami. We deal with tons of disadvantages when it comes to baseball compared to our instate rivals. Scholarship cost over 60k and that does not include where you stay. Our instate rivals will be operating at 20-25 but can use NIL/Financial Aid etc to get to the 34 number by giving kids 5-15k so they can go to school for free.

At Miami you're talking about 4-5x the cost per player.
Really? With the landscape of college sports I don’t think anyone really thinks Miami should be dominating CFB or BB like we once did. But can we at least compete for ACC titles in each?
We really haven’t competed for an ACC title in either sport more than 3-4 times in the last 16-18 years. We are closer to being 500 most years than competing for ACC titles, that’s how far the levels have fallen in both.

In a short time also. Remember, we played Clemson for the ACC championship 2 years ago and had them beaten until we imploded in one inning. Our bullpen collapsed, which is always why I was baffled at JD’s hiring.

We did play for the ACC championship 2 years ago but we had been slipping previously to that for years. A lot of uneven seasons before that ACC run.

Trust me brother, I have been living it since Morris mailed it in. We all have.

It's a situation that inexperienced staffs deal with. With evening the playing field comes recruiting that is less honor system and more battles and decommits coming. It’s going to become more like football and basketball

It's becoming like that, Coaches do not take kindly to it. I promise you some words were said to certain coaches at the ABCA the last three days.

I never understood the unwritten rule in baseball that schools dnt recruit you after youve verbally commited to another school. Especially in hometown situations and especially with how schools over recruit and kick kids to the curb so easily. Lets say a lower ranked miami kid commits to FAU early junior year, then has a huge senior year and miami now wants him. He’s in miami’s backyard, how is that wrong?

Not to mention now with the juco ruling how much harder its gonna be for HS kids.

Yeah I don't really understand that we have to recruit more aggressively on visits and in person during evaluation's whether pg etc
