I agree with the "Culture" bull **** playbook. Just say we are terrible and this year isn't going to be any different. It's OK. Just be upfront about it. It's not like they are going to fire him. Once we up the scholarships, that's when you start laying the wood on JD. I want him to succeed because I want the program to succeed. But baseball isn't like football. Guys being individualist can be a good thing. Culture isn't as important. Brining in poorly fielding middle infielders and soft throwing lefty's is what needs to change. It's not 1999.I hope it works. Will be here if it doesn’t or does, but I’m not buying the MiamiBro, not using all the scholarships when others are, not having the nil backing others do, used car off JDs lot.
Especially if he’s using the “culture” bull**** playbook.
I think we will have one of the higher # of scholarships for 2026 with 21. Teams are likely going to start at 17 scholarships to give kids a 50% scholarship. You have to take into account that football is getting 25 more scholarships which means they need to add 25 women's scholarships, + basketball is adding 2, then baseball is going from 11.7 to 21 full scholarships. We're at a great number to start. Our school is expensive and its one of the challenges we deal withI hope it works. Right. So again -- there is a Miami problem that will require a solution, and our solution is not to invest in the best coach to maximize our limited resources, but a Miami guy to piecemeal it together hoping to compete with the big boys.I think we will have one of the higher # of scholarships for 2026 with 21. What big boys are you referring to? Nobody is going to 35. When JD said Clemson was going to 35 it was a shock. I've already asked two advisers/agents about Clemson going to 35 and they have both consistently said that 95% of schools are looking at the 17 scholarship number as a starting point.Right. ****!!!!!!
How many teams have a tougher five week stretch than uf, UConn, Wake, fsu & North Carolina?I'm all in. I'm rooting very hard for him. Schedule is very tough though.
I also think you are living in an alternative reality truthfully brother. My perspective may be difference since i've never seen any Miami program win a title with my own eyes. But the baseball teams deals with so many disadvantages. Our last head coach was a Billionaire and we decided what he was doing wasn't good enough.. which is Ludacris. Now we're complaining about NIL when we ran off our HC who didn't even need the job.
This is not the 1980s where Neal Heaton decided to not sign as the #1 overall pick and come to Miami. We deal with tons of disadvantages when it comes to baseball compared to our instate rivals. Scholarship cost over 60k and that does not include where you stay. Our instate rivals will be operating at 20-25 but can use NIL/Financial Aid etc to get to the 34 number by giving kids 5-15k so they can go to school for free.
At Miami you're talking about 4-5x the cost per player.
Why would the players not know their roles last year? I don't know how any teams builds culture with so many transfers in and out for this new era if college sports. He said he feels really good about the team, but he mentioned that he also felt the same way last year about the team when he spoke to the baseball forum. He said this year with the culture they are building, guys know their roles and what is expected of them.
FSU in 2023 lost to: FGCU 3/4 times, Swept by UCF, 2/3 to BC @ home, JU @ home, @ North Florida, 2/3 to Notre Dame,We've been over this, but the "private school disadvantage" excuse loses its punch when you're getting beat by Duke, Notre Dame, BYU, Long Island, Bethune Cookman, etc.
If our recruiting classes are consistently in the top 20, why can't we make a 64 team tournament?

What did they do the year after, went to the portal and went to Omaha.
Why don't we make the tournament with a top20 class, it's because those old classes are loaded with quantity not quality. Our 2022-2023 classes there's less than 5 guys from those 25 signees still here. Also matters how you develop the players and when you have HR Powell who was horrible at his job you get results like that, plus bad coaching decisions from the head man.
Now they have a MLB trainer in Nick Soto who has already made so many improvements, he is going to be the true difference maker on the team this season. Everyday theres over 15 MLB guys working out in our weight room with the guys.
But who is the private school? Duke? Do you follow baseball? this isn't duke of the 2010s Duke is one of the most respected programs in the nation and they are a preseason top15 team. The main point is what are you doing with the talent. Are you developing the highly ranked guys you get? Last two years we have not. JD has taken a different approach and I'm riding with itYou ignored the main point, which was that we even manage to lose to private schools with our "private school disadvantage".

Also we lost a big battle two days ago when
2026 RHP Wes Peterson committed to Duke on Sunday over Miami and a few others. He was one of my top targets for us
