McCord/AQM - no third quarter action

These guys either need to grow into monsters or we need to risk having them on the field on run downs. I realize Shayon does work holding the edge, but there's a risk/reward to everything. We can't bring a personnel package in that signals exactly what we're going to do and expect a D-1 opponent to be unprepared. I asked for this before the game. I was disappointed that we didn't at least attempt a wrinkle.

Wake and FSU had plans for each of our personnel packages. I suspect VTech will as well.

Question, why not bring them in one at a time at least....maybel replace Shayon or Chick, but not both. Let McCord get reps with Shayon on the other side and AQM with Chick, or whatever combination? I mean maybe not on 2nd and 2, but middle distance on the hash or something like that.

I don't know, man. I thought that's what they'd do before this game. I was pretty sure we'd at least see Mccord in there for Shayon on earlier downs. Especially considering they've asked Shayon to drop in coverage and that's what they had Mccord work on in Spring.

I think the most alarming thing about both coordinators is the predictability and inability to be creative with playcalling or scheme. Enough making things overly simplistic, every team we play knows what we are going to do, it's time to break tendencies.

But before the game, most claimed we should keep the offense simple like BC's - just line up and pound the ball against FSU.

AQM, should be playing every down.

Porter isn't playing worth a ****, and Chick should move to the inside permanent.

You will never see a pass rush from this defense with just the front 4, until AQM is playing every down.

Our current DL can't stop the run, so AQM not getting reps on 1st, and 2nd would not hurt any.

Huh? Are you saying Chick should be a NT? Or do you not understand that we run at 3-4?

And disagree that we don't stop the run, we are giving up 3.7 ypc. Run defense has been pretty good all year.

I suspect McCord or AQM will be taking over Greens spot next year which should help the pass rush. As someone said in the recruiting board in the future we could see a Thomas-Valentine-Moten front with a guy like AQM playing the Green OLB role. That will be pretty scary.

Our run defense has been great considering what we had last year. People seem to ignore the fact that FSU's line just like our is mostly made of guys that will in fact be drafted, they arent awful by any stretch, plus their backs once again, contrary what most think on here are pretty **** good. Now in terms of that Thomas-Valentine-Moten line, well that has me pumped but we have to realize that even if they do sign here, we are at minimum 2 years away from them being every down guys.
