May the Cristobal purge begin....

Keontra, TAC, and chase. I’ve watched film on all of them and it’s not even close. Flag is a group of five talent at best. The other three are power five talents with the ability “with correct coaching and development” to play on sundays. Flag wants to stay to be depth and special teams, awesome! But that’s it, he’ll never see the field with meaningful snaps again at LB under Mario. I agree with one point of some on here, every team needs a good locker room guy/ gym rat hard worker, idk of flag is that guy or not but if he is, then he’s earned his scholarship and I hope he stays. If not, then it’s best for both parties he moves on.
While I agree those 3 you named are good. You’re severely overrating them all if you say you see nfl players right now from hs film.

I will never understand the need to crap on the kids. Whether they become All-Americans or not, they are Miami Hurricanes and deserve to be treated with respect.

For example, Flagg. He has become a whipping boy for many fans simply because he doesn't possess the speed of LBs from a distant past. Let him be. If he loses his starting job so be it. That means we have improved the team, but there is no need to disparage the kid. It serves no legitimate purpose whatsoever.
Agreed, save the crap for kids who talk shvt on the way out. Flagg isn't good enough to play here. That isn't his fault, and he did his best. Didn't get into trouble off the field and didn't badmouth the program. What was he supposed to do, not go in the game when coaches put him in?

I put in Quotations if they receive correct coaching and development. The point is they have the “potential” with correct coaching and development to play on sundays. Flag can get the correct coaching and development everyday and twice on sundays and there isn’t a chance in **** he’s playing in the league. That was my point.

Great post Sir.

Yeah but even still that’s a reach considering how few make it. But that’s just my opinion. We had two guys in the entire front 7 who have a better than not chance at the nfl. Chase smith and LT. You including the other 2 was a reach imo. With the right coaching they can be good college players sure

Mario’s not going to run off anyone, due to a perceived lack of athletic ability. He’s all about culture, commitment and excellence. The ones that leave, will do so on their own. They’ll leave because they’re not interested in buying into his philosophy or putting in the work required to compete. He would fight to keep the Jimmy Murphy’s. I wouldn’t make a transfers list based solely on what you saw between the lines. It’s a lot more about the locker room and how they choose to spend their time away from campus. The new staff will also help those that choose to leave find a home and continue their educations. This isn’t the evil empire. Mario is the guy you want coaching your kid. Let’s not sell him short. He’s taking his time to learn about each player, get to know them and address all concerns from both his and their sides. Exactly what you would want from your head coach. He’s tactical and patient. Faith
He isn’t living in an ivory tower
Well said!

Players get freaked out when the HC who recruited them leaves - you have an attachment to that guy who brought you in, to fit his system and bring him and the program success.

The facts are, the new guy got the job because things weren't working for the old guy. Now, suddenly for the players its not just a new coach, but also a system change. The future is even more uncertain. New guy, known as a better recruiter than old guy, is going to put his pieces of the puzzle together to fit his system. That includes replacing you by bringing in someone who fits/performs better.

Unless you're **** on wheels, some guys may feel they have a better shot going to a system where they fit better. Most will have an even better idea after meeting with the coach (also watch for some guys changing position after evals). For better or worse, its their choice to make.

He’s not what Mario is looking for in a starter. Sure. We can agree. He values everything else Corey can bring to a position group as a depth guy. There are a lot of kids on a roster.. only 22 starters

I liked the Flagg take, but none of us saw him as an early starter.

People forget that coaches take players and put them in their back pocket for long term development for different reasons.

For years and years, we have seen players blow up and become good to great college players in their 4th and/or 5th year. They seem to come out of nowhere to become All Conference and sometimes All American players , then don’t even get a sniff at the draft.

Corey made a big jump this year and will continue to get better. He went from 15 to 60 total tackles when he should have not been seeing major minutes at all.

Fans are going to be surprised with how effective Corey is as a run stopper in his 4th and 5th year. He will be weaving through offenses untouched and making plays like his high school filmed showed.

This guys is a big positive for this team. He is getting better and has a ton of eligibility left. Running him off is the last thing that should be on anyone’s mind.

So two guys and some maybe’s? I personally think Sam brooks can’t read a key to save his life if I had the book open in front of him. And steed is good kid.
Steed and Keontra Smith, those two answer his question. And yes maybe Sam Brooks as well, Flagg can read a key but he usually can’t make the play. Brooks has an impressive 12 tackle game to his credit.

I was a huge vocal Flagg advocate before this last season. I don’t believe he should be ran off.
