Mathis decommits

Shaq didn’t produce at the same level as Denzel??? based on what?? Definitely not production..DP had more overall tackles and that was based on scheme..Shaq had more impact, negative plays, TFLS and sacks. But again that’s scheme related..I’ll even give the slightest edge to Shaq on quicker play recognition and block shedding. Coverage was a weakness for both. This kid cave has the athletic traits to be a very impactful LB and will likely add more strength and athleticism to that frame
If perryman was in this defense his numbers would have been sick. Dude was killing shît in golden shîtty defense. He was 1 vote away from winning the butkus. He isn’t close to perryman.

Great get for them.....I question these guys LB evaluations since theyve been here.

They really seem hot for the straightlinish tweener edge/blitzer project types that don't have pass rush or LB skills, or the bulky lead-footed thumper types. I miss the Barrow days when we were 2-3 deep with traditional LBs that can diagnose and move laterally. Hyppolite fit that mold.

Steed- injured (take)
Joyner- injured (questionable take)
Wilder - CE injured (take)
Jennings- injured (take for the lil bro)
Huff- take
Brooks- take
Cave- take
Flagg- I like personally some question tho
Solomon- DC
Mathis- Early comimit then dropped

idk about the evaluations. The linebacker talent in south Florida imo has been a little down the past 3 or 4 cycke. I think the staff needs branch out nationwide for DL, LB, OL and QB position

He was in a 3/4..Which is designed for MLBs to be ultra productiive..perryman had incredible hit stick highlights. No doubt he was a harder hitter, but as far as overall production when u consider scheme shaq doesn’t take a backseat to Denzel at all..and how can he? When dp was here he had the same flaws in coverage and had moments when we wished he made a game changing play in bigger games..lots of revisionist history going on in the comparison imo

Joyner was a pass rusher in hs, brooks was a DE but I like his upside, wilder was a DE, jennings not that good, steed was a solid player at central. There is definitely a lot of questions about the evaluations at LB

I agree with that assessment to a degree..down in south Florida teams tend to use that best athlete in the mold of a LB in a pass rush position. Wilder and brooks are not Rush ends but Their HS teams used them that way..Jennings I agree but I think they gave him a offer to get at lil bro too..joyner same as wilder in HS as far as how they were used..but the LB cycle in south Florida has been weak imo..that’s why they need to expand nationally..down here the way schools use those athlete types, when we get them your teaching them a new position. That was the case with Brooks this year. Kid was learning how to play linebacker
