No way they all play the same position. Assuming 4-3: Stewart= 3T, Kelly = SDE, Moss/Thomas = WDE


HS Kids on the board, I'm sure I'm missing some
Moten = 6'3 290 = 3T maybe grows into a nose
Halton = 6'3 270 = 3T IMO
Stewart = 6'4 275 = SDE but likely a 3T
Kelly = 6'4 240-250 = SDE
Moss= 6'6 220 = WDE
Thomas= 6'2 220 = WDE

Good post. If you move to an odd front, things get interesting. A lot of this will depend on who we bring in as DC. Even if that DC prefers odd fronts (and I think there are a lot of hints that's what Mario seems to prefer), there are many variations for alignment. In your post, guys like Stewart and Halton become natural 5Ts. Moten likely would need to grow into a nose. Etc.

They are most likely switching to multiple front on defense.
I know you are talking bout recruits rather than transfers but:
Don't forget NT Jason Jones.
Lichtenstein is a 3-4 DE or 3 tech
Obviously going to chase more out of the portal as well.

Size indicates he's more like a 5T, but i've barely watched him.

I really hope we run multiple fronts! This allows the team to flex to the offense. Spread and we run 3 DL. Power and we run a 4-3 with tons of athletes in that 300-260 range. I haven't looked at Moten's film but the others are gifted athletes.

Tbh I didn’t know he was this good and really enjoyed his film. I do think Mario is taking a look and could possibly make a push after the dead period. Mario wants explosive athletes , well here ya go.

A question for those more familiar with 3 man front defenses: would Leonard Taylor be big enough to play NT? JHH could fit in at 3 tech and Elijah Roberts would be a good fit at SDE. But not sure if LT could play NT or if they’d want someone bigger? I’d imagine theyd want LT and JHH getting the most snaps and not splitting time. LT is listed at 6’3 305lbs currently.

In a modern scheme yes BUT I think they would want him play 3T in a 3-4. Think of it like Christian Wilkins. He can play the NT but he’s such a good run defender that you want to get him 1 v. 1 on run downs. Same with LT.
