Here's what I would do if I were VTech's coaching staff:
Offense
Throw more on first down. Throw screens and flats plays on first down and let the curl/dig area open up.
Run the ball - whether zone read or QB draw - about 65% of the time in the second half.
Defense
Mix in a little zone underneath or, obviously, spy the QB. They're playing man and the QB is taking advantages with some of those runs.
As hard as I'm rooting for Maryland, they really have barely anything on Offense. I compared them to the Little Giants not as an insult, but by the fact they are SCRAPING for everything they get. Their best bet is to just stay close enough in the 2nd half to make a play late. For their sake, they can hope that VTech gets impatient and Logan Thomas does a Logan Thomas.
I wouldn't say they have nothing on O. VT has a very good D. They get the ball to start the second half hoping they take it down the field and score. Make Logan have to make plays to win.
