Mario's response to Cam Ward hate

Literally NOBODY cared when this happened. Not a soul. And this was completely for the record. At least Miami and Cam didn't publicly say "I played for the record". These dudes did. And STILL not a ******* soul cared.

It was such a big deal, and he was such a quitter, that he went [Checks notes] #6 overall in the draft.

This **** is ONLY a big deal because:

1. It's Miami
2. Y'all engage with the ******* ****heads who start this nonsense

NOBODY. IN. THE. NFL. CARES. AT. ALL.

Mario shouldn’t have needed to clear this up with our own fanbase. I don’t expect the benefit of doubt from the national media or non Canes fans, but how some of “us” reacted was pathetic and embarrassing. Cam Ward has 0% accountability in how any of this played out. Everything that occurred, was agreed upon before hand. He didn’t surprisingly quit, he played in that game against his better judgement and precaution. It doesn’t matter if a record was up for grabs, he still did not have to play and he could have left the game after attaining it, but didn’t.

Of course he wanted Cam to play the entire game, who wouldn’t, but as his coach he understood the risk and agreed to let him play a half. It’s that simple, no one is lying and no one tricked anyone.

The media and fans think GMs care. They don’t! They want to know he is a good QB and the first half against a ranked team with a top pass defense confirmed it.

Exactly. This whole thing was a bunch of nothing bull**** made up by some stupid “media” participants.

Why lie though?
More BS from the Head Cheese. Why hasn’t Cam talked about it? He’s sitting back (is he still in Miami?) and letting Mario field the question. Why don’t they both man up & say it was pre-arranged and they were afraid it would affect ticket sales for the game. Lying and secretiveness only digs bigger holes as Mario should know by now.

I will say that had the Canes won the game it would probably be a non-issue but with Cam standing on the sideline in his uniform watching his team lose it was a really bad look & a PR disaster for the U.

I'm not sold it was pre-arranged. I do think it had been discussed about possibly getting the record and not finishing. I believe Mario wanted him to secure the win before sitting. Spitballing obviously.

Agreed on bold. Just a hard thing to watch.

Maybe it's just me, but how does this change how anyone looks at the situation? He looked like he would go early in the draft in the week of the game? Um, really? That hasn't been a foregone conclusion since the end of November? And "That's when decisions were made that were best for everybody".

Weak, just weak - from all parties involved in the "decisions" that were made for the best of everybody.

Yeah. I still dont get it either. Its all just coach speak. If you are looking like youre going to be the number 1 pick, then why play at all in the game.

He'll never come out and say it, but Cam wanted the record, and they wanted to see what they had in Emory. That's what I believe.

Same as them trying to get Chaney over 100 yards instead of taking a knee. They'll never admit it

what a ******* bum. Cam was getting ripped to shreds in the media after the game for more than a week and he just now says something?
Yep another reason to hate Mario. Let’s wait until weeks after the bowl game to defend a guy who did everything right in his short time here on and off the field.
