Mario Recruiting Columbus Vs Manny Diaz

"Columbus head coach Dave Dunn is going into his second run as the head hancho at Columbus, originally manning the position from 1999 to 2002. From his first time at Columbus to his college coaching experience, he has built a strong relationship with Cristobal and Mirabal.

"Whenever someone says they are on the phone with Dave Dunn while Mario is around, he picks up the phone and says "are we getting the Columbus kids or what and just hangs up," says Dunn. Not only is there a friendship with Cristobal, but he also has close ties to Mirabal stemming from coaching together at Columbus and Marshall University. Dunn says he talks to Mirabal about as much as he does his wife.

Besides the close relationship with the two, Dunn swears by their work ethic. "It's not a knock on the previous staff, but they just work on it harder," in regard to Miami further building the Columbus connection. "Again, no knock on the previous guy, but Manny Diaz visited the school one time. The first school Mario visited in the spring was us and it was a 5:30 AM workout."

I tried to explain, eloquently, why I have more hatred for Diaz over Golden, which I thought would be impossible. It had chit to do w/ recency bias. More & more facts r being leaked by the second. The truth can only be hidden for so long.
Manny should've known better. That's the difference between him and Golden.

And Ricky, like my baby cousin, both showed immediate signs of social anxiety. My baby cousin was clinically diagnosed. Matter of fact, if bro is not high or liquored, he can’t hang around no more than 3 ppl at any given time. Ricky was withdrawn, & ppl classified him as weird, & that was never the case.

I’m no medical professional or therapist, but Diaz doesn’t remotely give me the impression of someone who experiences S.A.D. He gives me the impression of a guy who thinks too highly of himself, not on a narcissistic spectrum, but of a Napoleon spectrum. He also gave me the feel of an opportunist who couldn’t be trusted. Look no further than how he did Mullen after giving him a 2nd chance & what he went on record to say about MSU (I posted it in another thread), the jabs he took at Richt after he, too, gave him a shot, how he did Temple, and his parting shot at us upon leaving.
Facts and facts. One example probably one of many, was him deciding to be the DC while also HC which ultimately(and thankfully) was the beginning of the end of his Miami career.

Don’t take my word for it. Ask anyone who coached down here or was involved with the local high school programs. Golden was a hated man. It’s not just that he wasn’t recruiting kids, it’s that he actually managed to turn programs against Miami. Those bridges are still burnt. Bringing in Mario was a big step to rebuilding those relationships.

How?

Man you got to give specifics.

The autopsies are fascinating. You learn a ton about life with these stories of how incompetence and hubris can destroy a great organization.

It’s literally a Pitbull vs. a Pomeranian!

5* TJ Capers LB (2024)
4* Dylan Stephenson SDE (2024)
3* Daylen Russell DL (2024) new staff re offered

Dylan Russell and Hector Chavez are ones we should be focusing as priorities. Both had a really good game last night against Ocoee to help Columbus advance to states.

Hector Chavez is a Beast

Reminds me of Denzel Perryman at his age. Maturity, Physicality, S2S Speed, sure tackling, mane this kid stands out on a solid defensive unit.

Blake James for me

But we don’t need to rehash the past there. ***** brutal

I know that we traditionally do great recruiting certain schools in our area….but I feel like the “pipeline” developed a lot of cracks at these places as well

We’ve seen the same with some of the UF and FSU schools

Good to see a place like Columbus we will never have to worry

Oh let's rehash the history because there are still a ton of lil manny diazs up in this board. THEY ARE ALL BUMS AS WELL, AND I WISH THEY WOULD HIT THE PORTAL AS WELL.

Are we pushing for Stephenson? He just was offered by Stanford. As a student, that's a tough life choice to say no to if he's looking beyond football.

I don’t know if Stanford is what it used to be with all of the PC/Woke bull**** over the last decade or so; but if it’s in the field you want to study you have to take it.

If it fits him and what he wants to do, I hope he goes.

My disdain for manny Diaz and his father goes far deeper than any of our previous failed regimes.
That disdain is misdirected IMHO. The disdain should have been directed at the BOT/Admin for not only hiring him but how they hired him. Manny was just a poor sap given an opportunity over his head that he had to take. There was some reasoning when Randy and Golden were hired but no reasoning at least sound reasoning on what happened with Manny.

Can’t argue it they’ve failed us for 2 decades now. But bring your father to work day multiple times is absolutely unacceptable for any program… none the less a program with the history of miami.

Especially when your father was the mayor of miami….
