Mario Recruiting Columbus Vs Manny Diaz

Don’t take my word for it. Ask anyone who coached down here or was involved with the local high school programs. Golden was a hated man. It’s not just that he wasn’t recruiting kids, it’s that he actually managed to turn programs against Miami. Those bridges are still burnt. Bringing in Mario was a big step to rebuilding those relationships.
 
That 2013 offseason… can anyone clarify, Mario was briefly on staff here under Golden (or agreed to be) but as we know ended up at Bama. What was said is that he bounced because he and Golden got into because of a dust up Mario had with another coach at a local high school…? Is that bullsh*t and completely made up or true? If true does anyone know who the assistant was or which recruit was at the center of it?

idk bout a dust up but I thought I read that t rob and Mario got into it at a PB hs and golden then blamed Mario for doing what he did or something to that effect. either way, even if that didnt happen, I wouldn't stick around for golden if bama came calling for the same position.

Not disagreeing w/ u. I know that factually; both Shannon & Golden did some crazy damage in alienating local schools against Miami, but my point w/ Diaz is bro didn’t want to put in the effort, my guy. We can’t keep hearing the same stories from recruits, parents, & now schools, bruh. That whole “but, he cared about the school” rhetoric is bull chit. Diaz wanted layups in recruiting, dog.

We can say all the bull chit we want about Golden, and we can & should; but, Golden at least left Richt some high caliber players. In fact, it’s already proven that as Golden recruited players began to wane, so did the on-field product.

Diaz talked big chit, the biggest chit of them all, & couldn’t deliver on it, including his **** poor efforts recruiting.

It’s water under the bridge, but if Manny really cared about his job he would make his rounds at the local powerhouse schools at minimum once a week.

If he only visited Columbus once in 6 years, I can’t imagine what it was like at Central, NW, BT, STA, Dillard…

We obviously know that Manny didn’t have the recruiting budget for out of state guys, but how the **** do you not hammer the local schools.

I seem to recall a poster on here saying that Mario got into it with a coach from Central. Something about Mario was scheduled to get 1 on 1 time with Cook, but because Cuckbo was there He got priority over Mario. Or some **** like that LOL.
